The North Peace Housing Foundation, a management body responsible for affordable housing for seniors and modest-income families, is seeking a suitable candidate to fill the position of:
Maintenance Worker (Full-Time) - Central Maintenance Services
Reporting to the Director of Maintenance and Capital Projects, the Maintenance Worker works as a member of a maintenance team that services the entire Foundation’s geographic region. This position is responsible for the maintenance and groundskeeping in their assigned area, providing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks such as, but not limited to:
- Renovating vacant units (demolition and install of tub/toilets, doors and cabinets, flooring, drywall, painting, plumbing, ceiling stippling, etc.)
- Completing preventive maintenance of housing facilities, systems, equipment and premises to ensure compliance with all associated legislation and standards.
- Conducting regular inspection of buildings, grounds, systems and machinery.
- Completing all maintenance manuals.
- Maintaining emergency systems, heating and ventilation systems.
- Conducting routine home repairs (repair heating, hot water tank replacement, frozen water lines, water leaks, sewer back-up, etc.).
- Groundskeeping (lawn and garden care, snow removal).
Applicants should possess considerable trades training and experience directly related to the position (Maintenance Worker I) or formal education and training in a specific trade (Maintenance Worker II).
Candidates should also have a(n):
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license, acceptable Driver’s Abstract and satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Knowledge of basic home renovation with an interest and/or understanding of carpentry, electrical systems, plumbing and/or painting.
- Proven ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
- Positive attitude and proactive approach to tasks.
- Understanding of workplace safety and ability to work with workplace regulations and legalities – overall safety conscious individual.
Position Details:
- FTE: 1.0 (8-hour shift with 1 hour unpaid meal break)
- Typically, Days (Monday thru Friday) – 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. On occasion available for emergency call-out – weekends and evenings.
- Reports to our Peace River location and operates in and around Peace River.
