What will your typical day look like?

The Manager, Client & Community Events Experience Lead, reports to the Senior Manager, Client & Community Events Experience, and leverages support from additional events & operations professionals. The role is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the Toronto Conference Centre, Podium Club, and Bistro along with planning and executing highly complex events and managing a team of event planners 

You’ll be accountable to:

  • Be an integrated team member in leading key projects while leveraging extensive knowledge of the hospitality industry
  • Work with Senior Manager to strategically plan and operationalize Toronto Conference Centre and Bistro experience, providing support for day-to-day operations
  • Manage a team of event planners. Mentor and support team member development and achieving KPO
  • Drive process improvement and change management, establishing and implementing operational models including best practices and enhancements
  • Act as an operational conduit between all Podium spaces (Deloitte University, Greenhouse, Bistro, Podium Club, D Studio, Conference Centre), making connections to ensure a holistic, efficient approach
  • Collaborate, and quality control on reimagined Bistro offerings and client experience
  • Collaborate on revised agile conference space utilization. Guide Meeting Request team to find solutions for escalations. 
  • Ensure catering guidelines are followed with hospitality vendor
  • Create, maintain, and actively manage all operational documents as they pertain to governance and processes, 
  • Support governance and process development for the space, ensuring all rules and guidelines support the success of the client experience
  • Relationship management for all key enabling areas to include: Hospitality Vendor, KitchenMate, Business Operations, Security, Technology, Communications, and the Design Team
  • Ensure scheduled events and experiences operate smoothly, efficiently, and effectively so the full benefit of the space is leveraged
  • Liaise and collaborate with Partners, Internal/External clients to manage complex and high impact events. May be planning for other National Orbis Office locations
  • Overseeing common area activations, including scheduling, priorities, and adhering to brand standards
  • Bring a creative mindset with a focus on driving experience and value for our clients and people
  • Overseeing utilization of common areas to ensure desired guest experience
  • For large scale events and activations, review event details to ensure all logistical areas are covered and fall in line with building operating standards
  • Act as first level of escalation point for any disruptions within the space and guest experience – connect to enabling areas for action in areas under their control, connect with security or Deloitte Emergency Services for assistance as required
  • Escalate all guest conduct issues, security issues, or additional issued that put attendees or building at risk to the Senior Manager
  • Oversee general maintenance and well-being of the facility, leveraging relationships with key enabling areas to ensure facility meets client expectations
  • Participate in the service level program with in-house hospitality vendor - evaluation of program effectiveness, leading regular vendor meetings, reporting analysis
  • Review and approve monthly period financial invoices from hospitality vendor
  • Manage various reporting requirements, identifying key trends and metrics
  • Act as a SME and consult on hospitality and events in other Deloitte Canada offices

The National Orbis Events Team, within Central Business Services, is responsible for delivering distinctly Deloitte experiences and operational excellence for our people, our clients, and community within our flagship offices (Montreal, Vancouver, Toronto). Team members are expected to be strategic thinkers and team players, ensuring collaboration among all operating and enabling areas to create a cohesive ecosystem with hospitality management as a large area of focus.

You are someone who has expertise in the following areas:
•    5+ years proven success with complex event management and delivery
•    5+ years hospitality and facility management experience
•    Strong people management skills with a team building approach 
•    Proven ability to form, leverage, and manage productive relationships and work effectively managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, highly matrix environment
•    Strong strategic-thinking and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail
•    Ability to multi-task various projects and manage varied clients
•    Consultative and solutions oriented; foster cooperation and collaboration; build credibility and trust
•    Proven experience taking the initiative to apply judgement within the parameters of role, take decisions and take action
•    Ability to effectively manage up, down and across
•    Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
•    General understanding of Delphi, Cvent 
 

Total Rewards


The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $156,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
