The role:
Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, the District Manager will provide strategic operational oversight for Purolator’s Pickup & Delivery terminals in the Toronto District. Leading through clear vision and purpose, you will motivate a diverse management team, and a frontline employee base of 400+. In this role, you will oversee and infuse accountability as it relates to standards for safety, people, quality, operational effectiveness, and financial performance.
You will be a part of the business leadership team ensuring regional operational strategies and execution are aligned to meet the overall business strategy, people goals and will ensure cross-functional synergies. This role helps Purolator by #MakingCanadaStronger every day.
The District Manager will: 
-Be a Safety & Sustainability champion
: Lead and ensure terminals operate safely, in compliance with regulatory and internal safety, and environmental program standards and goals. Transform culture towards ‘Safety First’ attitude for the direct and indirect organization. 
-Develop talent, be an inspirational leader
: emphasize efforts to build an effective leadership team for region and create a culture of excellence aligned to Purolator’s core values and guiding principles. Inspire, positively challenge, and coach your Unit Managers to enable them to achieve their business objectives and key performance indicators. 
-Drive results through our people:
Develop plans and deliver results in a fast-changing business environment, while leading and developing a team of experienced leaders, coaching and making decisions related to talent management hiring and performance and aligning overall team resources to meet strategic operational decisions.
-Embrace a Customer First mindset
! Understand the market and the operation to consistently deliver premium service to the customer. Leverage business drivers and people to develop appropriate strategies that enhance our market presence. Collaborate and follow up with clients to support the customer relationship lifecycle when called upon.

-Be a sponsor for operational efficiency
: Lead and own strategic implementation results of operational efficiency programs.
-Oversee budget and capital investment
: Responsible for strategy execution, management, and compliance of capital and operating budgets and oversee the strategy of capital investment projects and spending operating costs of approx. $20M
 
To be successful, you should have:
-5+ years in a leadership
 position with proven senior level, progressive operations experience preferably managing distribution centres, terminals, and/or hub operations
-The ideal candidate will have a track record of success in guiding a unionized team of ~400+ people in the courier, packaged, freight delivery, transportation, logistics or similar environments. Previous experience leading safety change and delivering on company vision. 
-The ability to lead and manage a positive work environment.
 You’ll need to be able to lead and coach your team to adapt to change, while also thinking critically and creatively to find answers to problems.
-District Managers
set and deploy operational priorities for multiple facilities. You will lead strategic and tactical operations and quality management deliverables to ensure customer and quality standard requirements are met within specifications.
-Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, delegate, and manage performance.
-The ability to challenge the status quo coupled with a good sense of humour!
