Job Type: Full Time
The Manager of Environmental Consulting will play a crucial role in overseeing key client environmental projects, including spill response, site assessment, and remediation. Responsibilities include coordinating and completing projects within specified timelines, budgets, and scope. Additionally, the role involves managing operations at soil treatment facilities, overseeing Project Managers, and ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Managing business unit financials:
- Reviewing and approving third-party invoices and generating client invoices
- Assisting in developing accurate cost estimates for large projects
- Developing and completing cost estimates, budgets, and work plans for medium-sized projects
- Attending bidders' meetings to gather essential project information
- Obtaining third-party quotes for required services
- Monitoring staff utility rates
Managing existing environmental projects by:
- Communicating with clients to ensure facility capabilities are understood
- Scheduling logistics, personnel, and subcontractors
- Reporting technical aspects of project work in compliance with client and regulatory requirements
- Tracking project status, performance, and completion
Soil Treatment Facilities:
- Operating facilities within approved limits
- Ensuring compliance with facility approval documents
People Oversight:
- Leading meetings with Project Managers and Field Staff to discuss project needs and challenges
- Mentoring and training direct reports
Compliance, Health, and Safety Support:
- Promoting a culture of safety and environmental protection
- Ensuring adherence to Health and Safety Management System
- Providing timely HSE-related documents
- Conducting ongoing equipment inspections and preventative maintenance
Qualifications:
- University Degree or College Diploma in Environmental Sciences (or similar)
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Project Management and Environmental Consulting
- Minimum 5 years' experience leading and developing teams
- Knowledge of budgets, department financials, and reporting
- Specialized knowledge in environmental site assessment and remediation
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Professional certifications such as P.Ag, RT.Ag, CET, PMP, EP are assets
Physical Requirements:
- Standing for long periods, lifting objects up to 100 lbs, performing repetitive motions
Working Environment:
- Possibility of cuts, bruises, straining, disease, and/or severe injury if safe work practices are not followed
- Primarily indoors, with fieldwork exposure to extreme weather, dust, noise, mud, water, smoke, and bacteria
