Here, you will play a key role in planning, developing and implementing strategic directions, policies, programs, and resources to support Equity and Inclusion within the OPP.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is one of North America's largest deployed police services with more than 5,800 uniformed officers, 2,400 civilian employees and 830 Auxiliary officers. We provide essential services that ensure the safety and security of the people of the Province of Ontario. The OPP is a division of the Ministry of the Solicitor General, the largest operational ministry in the province with a presence in every community across Ontario. We are the largest police service in Ontario and the second largest in Canada.
The Equity and Inclusion (E&I) Unit's mandate includes leading meaningful organizational culture change and championing authentic inclusion and engagement. E&I staff analyze policies, practices and procedures and develop recommendations for embedding Equity and Inclusion throughout the OPP. E&I initiatives and programs include: OPP Equity and Inclusion Strategy, Anti-Racism Action Plan, Demographic Data Collection and analysis, Hate/Bias Incident Response, Equity, Inclusion and Human Rights training/education, Accessibility measures and the French Language Services portfolio.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
  • Plan, manage, and coordinate a program or service and to provide leadership and supervision to a team of specialists.
  • Develop and recommend evidence-based program or service delivery options, and best operational practices and standards, to better achieve program objectives.
  • Provide strategic project management support and research, planning, analysis and evaluation to operations and business management processes.


How do I qualify?

Mandatory

  • Ability to pass an OPP background/ security investigation.


Leadership Experience

  • You can supervise teams in the delivery of program or project initiatives.
  • You can develop team, project, and individual work plans, set priorities, and supervise, manage and coordinate the work of staff to ensure that performance targets and key deliverables are met.
  • You have familiarity with OPP strategic directions, policies, programs and service delivery models, to provide operational management of a program area, service or initiative.
  • You can determine and plan for program resource requirements and ensure alignment of programs and projects with goals and objectives.
  • You have expertise in project management principles and methodologies to manage the delivery of program plans, initiatives and goals.


Equity and Inclusion Expertise

  • You know theories, principles, and practices related to Equity and Inclusion to provide subject expertise in planning and managing program operations.
  • You can provide advice and expertise to senior management in the analysis of Equity and Inclusion programs and services, development of options, and identify concerns that potentially impact the Bureau.
  • You can develop evidence-based criteria and benchmarks to evaluate program and service delivery practices and to measure achievement of program deliverables.
  • You know current emerging trends and issues, ensuring that legislative responsibilities and mandated program delivery goals and timelines are achieved.


Communication and Relationship Management

  • You can initiate and develop stakeholder relationships and program partnerships to coordinate shared interests, collaborate on research and program and service delivery initiatives, and discussing issues and program changes.
  • You can identify contentious or sensitive program delivery stakeholder issues that could impact the Bureau.
  • You can exercise discretion and independent judgement to determine and manage work activities where past practices may not exist.
  • You can communicate and can deliver briefings and sound strategic advice to executives.
  • You can support and facilitate consultation and engagement with partners using anti-bias and equity inclusion practices and approaches.


Policy and Program Analysis

  • You know related Equity and Inclusion policy and program development, program evaluation, and research methods.
  • You can lead and manage the research and analysis of operational policy and program delivery trends, gaps and issues.
  • You can lead review processes, including systems modelling, evaluation of best practices, options, costs and impacts.
  • You can provide evidence-based policy and program recommendations and assessment of the effectiveness of new or changed policies and programs.
