Your ‘day to day’The Manager Scientific Engagement is responsible for creating awareness and deeper understanding of PMI's Smoke Free Products science specific to Canada and its Key Scientific Opinion Leaders (KSOLs). The Manager of Scientific Engagement is a member of the External Affairs Leadership Team and works collaboratively with the Managers of Government Relations and Sustainability, Communications, and Illicit Trade Prevention, to achieve the Tobacco Harm Reduction (THR) and regulatory objectives of PMI in Canada. The Manager of Scientific Engagement will work to build a Scientific Engagement Strategy, including identifying and preparing an engagement plan for KSOLs, planning events such as speaking engagements to disseminate science in support of THR and identifying strategic opportunities for Scientific Engagement in Canada. The Manager of Scientific Engagement is responsible for 2-3 Scientific Engagement Team members and reports to the Head of External AffairsMajor accountabilities•Oversee and lead the development and execution of Scientific Engagement strategies and plans to increase the understanding and interests within the Canadian scientific and medical community of PMI’s scientific approach and results.•Provide Scientific Engagement education and coaching to internal teams on overall PMI Science, Scientific Engagement strategy and rules of engagement. This includes appropriate scientific training, including but not limited to the senior management, External Affairs, communications, marketing & commercial team, and scientific consultants.•Identify and build a network of key scientific opinion leaders, developing, executing, and monitoring engagement plans in collaboration with regional and market External Affairs as well as global Scientific Engagement. •Proactively communicate company’s views and positions in support of tobacco harm reduction, acting as a spokesperson on scientific matters as needed. •Manage a team of 2-3 direct reports, including setting objectives, providing coaching and direction, conducting performance management reviews, and ensuring completion of training on PMI policies. Who we’re looking for•Experience in life sciences or pharmaceutical industry, ideally in Medical Affairs e.g. Medical Communications, Medical Science Liaison or Medical Information. •Served at a management level, including leading complex cross-functional projects among multi-disciplinary stakeholders in R&D, law, corporate/regulatory affairs, communications, sales, marketing, planning and/or operations.
