Reporting to the Director of Corporate Communications, this experienced and committed professional will develop and manage external communication initiatives to build Hydro One's brand and reputation. This critical role will drive results through the execution of multichannel marketing and communications programs that tell the Hydro One story through media relations, social media, marketing, customer communications and giving campaigns. This exciting role is responsible for managing a talented and experienced team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
 
The role works closely with multiple lines of business and the employee communications department.  
General Accountabilities:
Communications and Marketing

• Work with Director of Corporate Communications to develop overall external brand and communication strategy for Hydro One and External Communications plans, including traditional and social media, customer communications and marketing tactics.
• Develop external platforms for executives and supporting communications strategies.
• Develop social media content that breaks through the clutter to engage customers, employees and the communities we serve.
• Work with agency as required to support social media plans.
• Manage experiential marketing tools and vendors.

 
Issues & Crisis Management

• Proactively and reactively manage issues, including developing communication plans.
• Provide communication support as part of multi-functional crisis team until crisis/issue reaches conclusion.

 
Team Management

• Lead and coach direct reports, actively communicating expectations and providing regular feedback.
• Work with team members to build appropriate development plans and help him/her achieve agreed upon objectives.
• Manage departmental budget.

 
Selection Criteria:

• Bachelor's Degree (4 year college or university)
• 8 - 10 years in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or relevant experience
• Excellent writing and editing, verbal communication and interpersonal skills; media interview experience a plus
• Experience managing marketing and communications campaigns, including charitable giving campaigns
• Proven history of managing traditional and social media in crisis situations
• Highly organized and strong attention to detail
• Strong verbal, written communication and analytical skills
• Strong strategic planning skills and people management experience
• Highly self-motivated and results-oriented
• Ability to work as needed outside of work hours to meet business needs
• High degree of PC literacy, including MS Office applications
• Valid Ontario Driver's License
