About Us


Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to energize a clean-air world. Utilities around the world rely on our nuclear fuel products to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco’s corporate office is based in Saskatoon. We have mining operations and projects in northern Saskatchewan, Kazakhstan, the United States and Australia. We are also a leading supplier of uranium refining, conversion, and fuel manufacturing services from our operations in Ontario.


The Role


This role is responsible for shaping and supporting the development and execution of Cameco’s media and public relations strategies.


In this role, you will:


  • Managing Cameco’s relationship with media and serving as the company’s spokesperson for media inquiries and interview requests
  • Researching emerging issues to prepare appropriate corporate messaging and communications materials with the input of relevant subject matter experts
  • Supporting the development and delivery of materials to meet Cameco’s public reporting and disclosure requirements in areas such as investor relations and regulatory affairs
  • Leading and supporting the development and execution of proactive communication plans, key message campaigns and advertising strategies on a variety of subjects
  • Overseeing Cameco’s website and social media channels
  • Collaborating with colleagues from other departments on multi-disciplinary issues and files
  • Representing Cameco on committees of various industry associations

Required:


  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or a related discipline
  • Ten or more years of progressively responsible experience in communications, media relations, public relations, journalism or a related role
  • Equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered
  • Previous experience within media and/or engaging with media
  • Experience with managing websites and social media
  • Superior writing and verbal communication skills, including writing speeches and presentation

Recommended:


  • Experience in a corporate setting, particularly a publicly traded company
  • Experience in a highly regulated industry, preferably nuclear energy or mining
  • Experience dealing with government and regulatory agencies
