Job description

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Financial Services, the Manager of Operations will oversee the planning, implementing, managing, and controlling of all related activities around SAIT's Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable sections of the Finance department.

The position will ensure the integrity of all financial information and systems in addition to ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and guidance, professional standards, and SAIT policies and procedures.

The Role

    • Management of Operations
    • Recruit, coach, and develop talents of subordinate employees.
    • Establish, monitor, and enforce policies and processes within assigned teams.
    • Facilitate team success by setting objectives, performance and quality standards.
    • Coordinate the recording, collection, analysis, consolidation, interpretation, and reporting of financial data and trends as required.

    • Reporting and risk management
    • Support all auditing processes with the appropriate resources as required.
    • Prepare budget and forecasts in collaboration with Business Services to ensure appropriate resource allocation and management reporting.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local legislation and regulations related to the department.

    • Innovation and business improvement
    • Act as an advisor regarding controls, public accounting standards.
    • Develop effective resources to support reconciliation processes and system reporting.
    • Coordinate the assessment of underutilized functionality in financial applications and determine where process improvements can be made.

    • Other
    • Provide advice and recommendations to committees, departments, schools, and management as required.
    • Lead team meetings and attend Finance department meetings; facilitate group discussions providing ideas and recommendations for improvement.
    • Maintain professional and technical knowledge and keep up-to-date with developments in the industry.
    • Deal with students and vendors.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders and work very closely with SAIT's Registrar's office.

Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline
    • 5 years finance related experience
    • 5 years' experience in a supervisory role
    • CPA Professional accounting designation

    • Preferred
    • Strong knowledge of Banner or related enterprise reporting systems
    • Proficient in MS Office applications
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership skills
Salary range: $129,000.00 - $142,000.00
