Position Overview:
Reporting to Corporate Controller, the Manager, Finance will have responsibility for a wide range of financial reporting and accounting activities across multiple entities, ensuring timeliness, accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. This includes leading the accounting team through the monthly close process, driving efficiency and completeness of the month-end close cycle, as well as collaborating with the business and FP&A team on value-added financial reporting, improving controls and processes to meet the company's operational and reporting requirements.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced and highly dynamic environment. Excellent communication skills, high accuracy/attention to detail, strong organization, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
Location:
- This is a hybrid role with flexibility for occasional remote work. On Wednesdays, our Finance team works on site in our Kitchener facility (Wednesday lunch is provided!)
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Finance & Reporting team by living & breathing Avidbots core values; Customer Centricity, Quality, Excellence, Trust & Teamwork, and Think Big!
- Oversee the full accounting close cycle each month, including journal entries, multi-entity & currency consolidation, account reconciliations, and reporting while ensuring compliance with internal controls.
- Manage the preparation and distribution of periodic financial statements for internal and external use. Perform high-level and detailed financial analysis
- Have a continuous improvement mindset while being able to effectively prioritize key tasks in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
- With support from the Corporate Controller, develop department objectives & key results (OKR's) for the Finance & Reporting team and ensure 100% goal achievement by developing, coaching, and course correcting team members.
- System administrator for Epicor, Avidbots' ERP system. Lead key process improvements & system enhancements and engage with stakeholders throughout the business.
- Build & maintain a deep understanding of Avidbots operations and evaluates operational & strategic issues from a Financial point of view.
- Manages the accounting for the company's inventory and fixed assets, including responsibility for annual standard costing updates & variance analysis.
- Supports Corporate Controller in co-managing annual external audits.
- Supports Corporate Controller with research and resolution of significant and/or non-routine transactions as well as impact of new accounting standards.
- Supports the Financial Planning & Analysis team with annual planning and quarterly forecasting processes.
Key Requirements & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
- 7-10 years of related experience, preferable in manufacturing and/or technology sectors
- Strong technical understanding of ERP systems & functionality. Experience with Epicor is an asset
- Ability to balance attention to detail with results
- Advanced level of Excel and data management skills
- Experience with multi-currency general ledgers
- Prior experience with and strong understanding of US GAAP accounting standards
- Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and deadlines
- Successfully complete pre-employment onboarding requirements that may include criminal/civil background checks
