Manager of Supported Group Living

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Supports and Services, the Manager of Supported Group Living is responsible for the leadership and oversight of Supported Group Living programs within their portfolio in a manner which complies with provincial and federal legislation and standards. The focus of the work will be to ensure smooth operations, and implement and establish systems that will ensure quality service delivery. Specific functions include, providing effective program monitoring and implementation, handling day to day operational issues, managing an interdisciplinary team, preparing service report, planning/maintaining the service program budget, planning for Transitional Aged Youth and community development and evaluation.

The Manager of Supported Group Living is required to perform their duties in a manner consistent with the Mission, Vision and Values of all Tri-Alliance agencies and to create a safe and supportive environment for all people supported and staff within the agencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Supported Group Living, Intensive Support Residences and Host Family supervisory and staff teams to ensure standards and expectations are achieved and ensuring the effective operation of each support location.
  • Monitor the operation in accordance with policies and procedures as well as compliance with funder regulations
  • & standards. In cooperation with management team identify and implement best practices that can be shared throughout the department.
  • Develop budget and care plan proposals for the ministry in conjunction with people and their families eligible to receive ministry funding for supports
  • Support the staff teams in a timely and sensitive resolution of people supported and/or their family complaints and service provision issues.
  • Provide regular supervision and performance management of direct reports.
  • Provide support for the recruitment and orientation of new employees in the agency.
  • Ensure adherence to all aspects of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Fire Code for the department
  • Ensure adherence of the implementation of fire & emergency drill procedures and reviews reports to ensure follow up is completed as required.
  • Submit summary reports as required and identify any risks within the department.
  • Develop action plans (including strategies for mitigation) for all risks, as required and appropriate, identifying level of risk.
  • Identify and manage risk issues relating to program as they arise, ensure immediate follow up and reporting any material concerns to senior management.
  • Provides department oversight of expenditures to ensure department operates within budgetary guidelines.
  • Review financial statements and provide leadership to team to take action on variances to bring expenditures in line with budget.
  • Provide oversight of department procurement and supply control procedures.
  • Oversee payroll responsibilities for assigned portfolio.
  • Work collaboratively with other Tri-Alliance staff and departments and community partners.
  • Ensure adherence to all aspects of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Fire Code for the department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BSW or DSW or related degree/diploma
  • A minimum of 3 years management (preferred) or supervisory experience in the developmental services or related sector
  • Previous management or supervisory experience supporting people with an intellectual disability or other marginalized people in a residential setting,
  • Knowledge and understanding of Person-Centred Planning, MCSS compliance standards and other related legislative requirements
  • Demonstrated success in mentoring and coaching staff teams to achieve measurable outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and model positive change in an environment/sector experiencing transformation is services
  • Excellent analytic and writing skills
  • Excellent supervisory and leadership abilities in the areas of human resources, finance, employee and labour relations

Location: This position will be based out of the Community Living Owen Sound and District in Owen Sound, ON, however, travel between all Tri-Alliance agencies may be required.
