OVERVIEW
The Manager of Operational Excellence (OpX) position is responsible for building capacity and fostering a culture of improvement at MGH. This role leads a centralized team of analysts, consultants and project managers to collaboratively facilitate corporate priorities and departmental improvement projects across MGH. This leadership role works collaboratively with departments to identify priorities, lead transformative change projects and evaluate the outcomes. This role is also integralin building capacity at MGH around improvement methodologies, project management and change management through education, coaching and resource development.
EDUCATION
- Master's Degree, or equivalent, in Health Sciences, Health Policy, Health Administration, Industrial Engineering or related field.
- Certification in improvement methodologies, such as quality improvement, Lean or Six Sigma, is preferred.
- Certification in project management or change management, is preferred.
- Professional Engineering (P. Eng) designation is an asset.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10+ years of relevant work experience in a healthcare setting.
- Strong understanding of Ontario’s healthcare system, with experience in an acute care setting is an asset.
- Demonstrated value-based leadership skills with the ability to build and foster a high performing team.
- Demonstrated experience developing and leading complex projects or change initiatives within a healthcare service organization.
- Experience with LEAN implentation in a healthcare environment is an asset.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills; must be a team-oriented and collaborative leader.
- Demonstrated experience working with a broad set of stakeholders, including patients, clinicians, interdisciplinary teams and healthcare administrators.
- Proven experience with evaluation, performance monitoring and/or portfolio management.
- Strong experience with presenting, facilitation, teaching and coaching.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and critical thinking ability.
- Demonstrated initiative and independence to take appropriate action and anticipate organizational needs.
- Ability to see the bigger picture and to focus on large organizational goals.
- Experience building or working in a project management office, is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience with MS Office suite.
