Purpose:
The role provides operational oversight of an innovation hub designed to support participants in the automotive and mobility sector. The program will be a hub for open collaboration and innovation, and will be a key hub of commercial activities, especially for start-ups and SMEs that may not otherwise have the resources to develop, test, validate, prototype, and commercialize their automotive technology and smart mobility solutions. Accountable for the effective, professional and responsive provision of client centered services and operations management support. Works in close partnership with academic and administrative leaders to determine operational priorities, manages the day-to-day activities of the administrative and/or technical staff, and is aligned to the vision, mission, values and strategic direction of the University. The Operations Manager supports York's commitment to sustainability, equity, diversity and inclusion.
Education:
Post-secondary degree in relevant field.
Experience:
Minimum 4 years of related experience, including 2 years of management/ supervisory experience.
Experience managing and reporting on finances of a large unit and/or program.
Skills:
Knowledge
Knowledge of operations management.
Knowledge of workforce planning, budgeting and financial management, process improvement and change management.
Working knowledge of managing in a unionized environment and applying a collective agreement.
Knowledge of accounting, budget management, financial controls, financial planning principles and general accounting procedures.
Skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
Ability to provide excellent service to the community and deal courteously and effectively with people at all levels.
Strong problem identification and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to foster an environment of trust, support and accountability while modelling respect for employees.
Ability to develop and/or lead cohesive teams and manage performance and productivity.
Strong planning and organizational skills with ability to prioritize workload and meet timelines.
Adaptability to change, new ideas and practices.
