The Manager, Operations will report to the Director, Mechanical Maintenance. They will be responsible to manage and provide organizational leadership over maintenance/servicing resources in order to deliver a quality product as per the train plan, production plans, and the VIA Master Maintenance productivity gains, and prevention of loss.
Responsibilities:
The Manager, Operations will report to the Director, Mechanical Maintenance. They will be responsible to manage and provide organizational leadership over maintenance/servicing resources in order to deliver a quality product as per the train plan, production plans, and the VIA Master Maintenance productivity gains, and prevention of loss.
Responsibilities:
- Manages production to meet availability requirements of passenger/servicing/ maintenance and other assigned workloads in accordance to Via prescribed standards and methods;
- Manages and promotes a working environment conducive to the prevention of loss “(occupational safety and health, overtime, absenteeism, productivity, corporate assets, material waste and environmental compliance);
- Supports the safe operation of the WMC facility, communication of and adherence to safely legislation and regulation in conjunction with the VIA’s Safety Management System (SMS). Provides coaching and supervisor on compliance to internal and external safety requirements. Identifies and assess’ safety hazards and recommends/implements prompt, appropriate corrective actions. Communicates safety policies, objectives, initiatives and performance plans to direct report;
- Responsible to manage all regional and revenue generation contracts;
- Manages the quality of work produced and complies to processes as defined in the current quality program. Manages the effective use of materials required to execute the assigned workload;
- Provides managerial leadership to develop and enhance skills of employees and promotes a cohesive working relationship amongst management, union representatives and clients. Identifies, implements and manages performance improvements and objectives of foremen.
Requirements :
- College certificate and or administration degree, or equivalent;
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in managing maintenance/servicing operations;
- Experience in railway operations an asset;
- Good knowledge of computer tools (Word, Excel, Powerpoint);
- Day shift but must be available and able to work nights and weekends.
