Job Description
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Director, Timekeeping, Payroll & Benefits, the Payroll Accounting & Reporting Manager is responsible for supporting all aspects of Ministry and payroll reporting (scheduled and ad hoc), including planning, organizing and directing staff and activities of the department. In partnership with the Director, Timekeeping, Payroll & Benefits this position works in a dedicated reporting team to provide accurate, clear, concise and insightful reporting and analysis to internal and external stakeholders.
This position is also responsible for fostering innovation by analyzing new technologies to accelerate payroll reporting requirements, ensuring best practices are in place and identifying continuous improvements in payroll reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a relevant discipline plus completion of a professional accounting designation (CPA) with a minimum of seven (7) years' recent, related experience in financial reporting in a large, complex organization, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

- Proven ability to design, implement and manage complex planning, reporting and business processes.

- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, other health care staff, one-on-one, in groups and in writing.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
- Computer literacy with advanced word processing, spreadsheet and database skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a self-motivated manner but within a collaborative team environment.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
