Job responsibilities
The Payroll and Benefits Administrator is responsible for processing semi-monthly Payroll and employee benefits in accordance with the relevant federal and provincial employment laws and regulations, and company policies.
- Process semi-monthly payroll in ADP for full-time, part-time, hourly and contract employees for approximately 180 team members in both Canada and US
- Accurately calculate sales commissions
- Ensure payroll is processed timely and correctly including regular salary, salary adjustments, commissions, one-time payments, taxable benefits, employee benefits premium deductions, parking deduction, and government source deductions
- Administer and update employee benefit program for new employee enrolments, cessations and changes to coverage
- Ensure accuracy of employee benefit coverage and information
- Work closely with the Human Resources team to ensure changes to Payroll and Benefits are processed accurately and timely
- Manage the Payroll and Benefits inbox, and respond to inquiries promptly
- Prepare semi-monthly payroll journal entries
- Prepare government filings including WCB filings, quarterly BC Employer Health Tax, Statistics Canada surveys for Payroll and annual T4 filings and other US filing
- *Qualifications, knowledge and experience
- A strong sense of integrity, professionalism, and a results-oriented attitude to continually improve processes and systems, enhance efficiency, and contribute to overall organizational success
- 2+ years of direct Payroll and Benefits experience
- Familiar with Canadian federal and provincial employment laws and regulations
- Familiar with Canada Revenue Agency payroll taxes calculations and taxable benefits rules
- US payroll experience is an asset
- Experience with ADP, Ceridian or payroll module of major accounting software
- Bachelor’s degree or Canadian certificate/diploma in accounting or finance
- Enrolment or completion of Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) is an asset
- Must plan the work to meet strict deadlines for Payroll and benefit processing, always being aware of the impact to the workflow of team members
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated with the drive to take on new challenges, and learn new knowledge and skills
- Positive attitude and excellent customer service skills
- Detail oriented and able to identify errors
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and Outlook are required
- Possess strong integrity, honesty and work ethic

Salary: $40.00-$45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
