As part of the Corporate Planning and Performance Business Unit, you will drive organization-wide excellence, equity, and innovation in Performance Measurement, benchmarking, and performance reporting. You will provide leadership and direction to high-profile cross-corporate work to improve service value for Calgarians and advance our One City, One Voice culture. Enhancing partnerships and continuing to build key networks across The City to strengthen alignment between related functions will be critical. You will be responsible for delivering on regular performance reporting to Council and Calgarians, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting, implementation of Results-Based Accountability (RBA), The City's framework for Performance Measurement, and delivery of a Performance Measurement and benchmarking strategy.  A key part of your role will be to work with partners across the organization to advance these areas of priority for senior leadership and Council. You will seek out emerging practices in reporting and use your expertise to advance a modernized, and innovative approach including a significant on-line presence so Calgarians have access to regular performance data and to ensure Council and Senior Leadership have the information to make evidence-based decisions. Primary duties include:

·        Lead, develop, and supervise a team of professional staff.

·        Work closely with senior leaders (including General Managers and Directors) on controversial issues, to gain their confidence in approaches and their support for recommendations.

·        Prepare, or oversee the preparation of, high quality reports and presentations for Council and senior executive committees.

·        Coordinate contributions from every part of the organization, using consensus-based decision-making to ensure the achievement of key deliverables.

·        Evaluate and continually improve the team's approach to ensure its ongoing effectiveness.

·        Contribute to the overall direction and coordination of the Business Unit as part of the leadership team.

 
Qualifications 
  • A graduate degree with 10 years of progressive, relevant experience, including formal leadership and supervisory experience.

  • A strong understanding and technical knowledge of Performance Measurement, reporting, benchmarking, and ESG standards.

  • Experience of corporate and business unit Performance Measurement and reporting is required.

  • Extensive management experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment is essential.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills are required, with an established record of collaboration across diverse partner groups.

  • Success in this position requires excellent strategic, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills.

  • A proven ability to deal with organizational dynamics and politics effectively in large, complex organizations is required, with an understanding of the complexities of decision-making in the public sector.

  • Experience in preparing, or overseeing the preparation of, high quality reports and presentations for senior executives and/or the public is required.

  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.

work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
