The Treasury Market Risk team provides self-governing oversight of the Bank's structural balance sheet risks (Interest Rate Risk, FX, Investment Portfolios) as well as of the trading activity and hedging strategies executed by Group Treasury (GT)
The Manager will assist Senior Manager on identification, measurement, reporting and oversight of Market Risk in GT. This includes the Bank's Investment Portfolios (Liquidity Portfolio), Market Intelligence Portfolio (Trading Portfolio), short term interest rate risks (including the Short-Term Funding Desks), structural foreign exchange risks (associated with foreign investments and forecasted earnings), as well as the execution of Balance Sheet hedging strategies
Job Responsibilities:
Oversee the Market Risk exposures for GT desks and socialize to TFRM management on risk metric monitoring, trader sentiment and market conditions.
Produce timely and accurate reports highlighting key treasury activities and risk metrics for stakeholders including: The Board of Directors, Asset Liability Committee (ALCO), Market Risk Management & Policy Committee (MRMPC), external stakeholders (OSFI) and Senior Management of TFRM and GT.
Adjudicate and monitor risk limits for GT to ensure that the activities are fully accounted within the limit structure and stated strategies.
Asist in liaison with GT stakeholders (Front Office, ALM, Funding and Liquidity teams) to review hedging strategy proposals and provide detailed risk return analysis to guide the risk appetite discussions.
Continuous development, enhancement and review of reporting infrastructure, Market Risk metrics, models, IPV and governance for GT trading & hedging operations through collaboration with team members and stakeholders to improve robustness and completeness.
Represent the Bank's interests in a professional manner in all communications with internal stakeholders (i.e. Audit) and external stakeholders including OSFI.
Assist with ad hoc analysis and special projects as requested by the senior management or business stakeholders
Job Requirements:
A university degree in Finance, Economics, or quantitative field (statistics, science, math, engineering).
Master Degree/FRM/CFA or working towards those certifications is an asset.
Solid understanding of risk measurement concepts such as DV01, CS01, VaR, Stress Testing etc.
Familiarity with financial products & capital markets, retail banking products, investments, and hedging strategies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a successful record of creativity and innovation.
Strong ability to devise and implement operational frameworks, processes, controls and documentation approaches for a team comprising of highly specialized technical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in spreadsheet analysis and data management with VBA, Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, or SQL etc.
