Job description

Responsibilities

Treasury:

  • Manage funding needs through short-term and long-term cash flow planning and forecasting ensuring sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements incorporating borrowing needs as applicable. Manage excess operating cash to obtain optimum interest revenue.
  • Analyzing historical daily liquidity trends to develop predictive modelling in support of the 13-week cashflow forecast process.
  • Working with other functional areas to drive working capital management efficiencies and improvements to the forecast process.
  • Intercompany Loans and Financing Arrangements – End-to-end management of intercompany loans and financing arrangements including establishing intercompany loan agreements, calculating and preparing monthly accrual entries, and managing periodic settlement obligations as required.
  • Review monthly bank reconciliations; complete month end debt reconciliation and entries; complete monthly entries related to financial instruments.
  • Monitor debt covenant compliance and prepare related calculations and certificates, in accordance with debt agreements.
  • Maintain banking relationships and serve as the primary contact regarding day-to-day treasury needs. Review and analyze banking services to identify cost reductions.
  • Manage capital lease program: interest rate analysis prior to executing new agreements to ensure best use of financing, analysis of classification of the agreement, set up of all new lease agreements within the ERP, maintain reporting.
  • Develop dashboards appropriate for reporting of treasury activities and prepare regular reporting for senior management.
  • Manage letter of credit and bonding requirements for the business.
  • Ensure an efficient and effective system of policies and procedures for the treasury activities.
  • Support to ensure BURNCO’s capital structure provides the ability to invest & grow by maximizing liquidity and maintaining the lowest blended cost of capital.
  • Support to manage BURNCO’s foreign exchange risk exposure and currency position through transaction support and hedging.

Risk Management:

  • Assist with management of insurance program: compiling renewal information and updates for business activities and changes.
  • Work with senior management to analyze and review various insurance programs and structures to maximize risk coverage while driving cost efficiencies.
  • Oversee sales tax compliance and monthly filings for Canada, Colorado and Texas.
  • Assist with real property reporting in Colorado.
  • Manage the Corporate tax relationship and requirements with our tax consultants/advisors.

Leadership:

  • Provide leadership, coaching and development to staff (1 direct report)
  • Plan and organize departmental workload and use management skills to effectively and efficiently prioritize and manage competing deliverables.
  • Lead in the continuous improvement of processes, providing recommendations and promoting effective and efficient processes.
  • Represent and/or lead finance efforts for ad-hoc initiatives and projects.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with appropriate levels of personnel across BURNCO.

Qualifications

  • University degree in business, accounting, or equivalent
  • CPA designation required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in managing financial information and/or processes in a multi-faceted, complex environment
  • Minimum 2 years’ treasury, supervisory and leadership experience providing direction, coaching, performance management and development
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience with auditing standards and ASPE
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal to work effectively with key stakeholders and external vendors
  • Organized and detail-orientated with a drive for continuous improvement and automation with a strong attention to detail, sense of ownership and accountability
  • Experience using Oracle Cloud, Smartview, and Power BI an asset
