Who We Are:

Heritage Park is Canada's largest living history museum and offers visitors a chance to experience life in Western Canada from the 1860s to the early 1950s. The Park features historical buildings, costumed interpreters, working antiques, and various exhibits that provide insight into the region's past.

Job Overview:

The Marketing and Content Specialist is a creative professional who uses their extensive project management, creative technical knowledge, and organizational savvy to deliver engaging content that drives audience engagement and growth. The role will work closely with the internal and external stakeholders and oversee the work of seasonal outreach employees.


Responsibilities:

Content Management and Strategic Collaboration


  • Identify ideas and create compelling and effective content in alignment with Heritage Park’s Marketing and communication calendar, in a variety of formats for a range of audiences and channels, such as, but not limited to:
    • Web pages, news and articles
    • Social media content
    • E-newsletters
    • Direct Mail Plans
    • And other digital channels as required
  • Main point of contact for internal stakeholder requests. Conducts thorough intake and create a marketing strategy based on needs.
  • Manages and oversees content creation, including writing, editing, and reviewing content produced by internal and external contributors
  • Identifies key performance indicators (KPIs) and implements analytics tools to measure the success of content initiatives
  • Conduct thorough content audits and analysis to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensures Heritage Park's brand and voice are consistently applied at all venues.
  • Create and sustain third-party partnerships with Heritage Park’s community partners, ensuring collaborative success and mutual benefit
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, interpretation, programming, retail and food services to ensure content meets brand guidelines and user experience standards
  • Lead the special events marketing logistics and planning in collaboration with the Special Events and Marketing teams.
  • Develop presentation decks for internal and external audiences, including helping other business units develop PowerPoint presentations for use by the CEO and senior leadership
  • Collaborates with departments to develop promotional marketing initiatives tailored to meet their specific needs, ensuring targeted and impactful outreach efforts
  • Creates and maintains editorial calendars to plan and organize content creation and distribution
  • Stay informed about content marketing trends and emerging technologies to remain well-informed and adept in the dynamic landscape of digital marketing
  • Stay updated on industry trends relevant to content creation and distribution, ensuring a current and strategic approach to content management
  • Perform other duties as required
Leadership

  • Recruit, train and performance manage seasonal employees to meet the marketing needs.
  • Work with the Marketing Director to create departmental goals and follow through the progress
Organizational Excellence and Wellbeing

  • Contribute to inspiring and immersive experiences at the Park through your roles and responsibilities by engaging in Heritage Park initiatives that align with the overall mission and vision of the Park
  • Demonstrate commitment to workplace health and safety by complying with Heritage Park's Health, Safety and Environment Management System (HSEMS), following safe work practices, reporting work-related incidents, injuries and hazards, participating in employer training, and adhering policies including the Code of Conduct and the Workplace Violence and Harassment Policy
  • Actively support a positive work environment through creating an atmosphere of inclusion, engagement and fulfillment in line with Heritage Park values
  • Demonstrate responsible stewardship of our people, collections and financial assets by ensuring that they are handled with integrity, sustainability, and a focus on long-term benefits for the organization and its stakeholders

Required Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years prior experience with content strategy, marketing, or a related role is required. Proven experience in content strategy, content marketing, or a related role.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in marketing project management.
  • Minimum 1 years experience in people management, including recruitment and performance management.
  • Experience in a not-for-profit environment would be considered an asset
  • Medium to advanced level proficiency to utilize relevant technologies such as Asana, Office 365, Social Media sites, Adobe Acrobat and CMS (content management systems) like WordPress. Familiarity with AI marketing tools will be an asset.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and keen attention to detail are imperative
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills for effective engagement with clients, team members, vendors, and other stakeholders
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills in a client-faced setting
  • All successful candidates (over the age of 18) will be required to go through a Police Information Check as a condition of employment.
