Job Summary
The Material Handler is responsible for accurately receiving goods by unloading trucks and kitting parts to the allocated work orders
Job Duties
- Receive and unload delivery trucks by safety using forklifts and overhead cranes.
- Enter received goods into the MRP system ensuring accurate delivery by matching packing slips to purchase orders.
- Identify and tag all purchased components with Work Order and/or Part ID.
- Match critical dimensions of materials received to drawings.
- Package and ship spare parts and samples and assist, when needed, to package and ship equipment and tooling.
- Report all nonconformities to supervisor.
- Identify and quarantine all parts that do not comply with the purchase order or drawings.
- Maintain 100% accuracy in kitting of purchased parts by sub-assembly.
- Ensure outgoing shipments are properly packaged and secure for transportation to achieve zero returns or complaints from customers as a result of improper packaging.
- Ensure all flame cuts and Blanchard grounds are counted, measurements verified and are kitted by assembly.
- Ensure efficient use of time and workflow by planning work and keeping area organized and clean.
- Ensure goods are received in the system within 2 days of receipt.
- Kit purchased parts to jobs within 2 days of receipt.
- Deliver office supplies and courier packages received before end of shift.
- Prioritize receipts and deliveries based on urgency.
- Kit parts for production orders, as required by production planner.
- Collaborate with supervisor and co-workers to ensure an on time, quality product.
- Exchange information and knowledge on issues encountered.
- Maintain positive and productive working relationships with supervisor and other shop workers.
- Be courteous and helpful when dealing with customers, suppliers, delivery drivers and co-workers.
- Have a good attitude.
- Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and polices as outlined in the Company Health and
- Safety manual to prevent workplace injuries including using personal protective equipment, using
- protective devises on equipment, performing all pre-use inspections as required and report all injuries.
- Instruct truck drivers of safety policies pertaining to shipping and receiving.
- Ensure vendors/visitors coming through receiving follow safety policies and wear safety glasses.
- Follow all plant safety rules.
- Follow all company rules and regulations as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Follow departmental processes required by ISO and actively participate in recommending improvements

Job Requirements (Education, Knowledge & Skill)
- High School
- Forklift and Crane certification
- 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of basic computer usage for receiving goods in an ERP environment.
- Ability to read and understand drawings for the receipt of flame cuts and machined parts.
- Ability to use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, or tape measures
- Good communication skills to gain and provide understanding of issues.
