Berwick on the Lake retirement community is looking for a Non-Certified Multiservice Worker who is reliable, authentic, and excited to make a difference in the lives of people. Hours of Work:

Casual - Hours will be as needed.

Pay:

Pay starts at $26.06 (includes provincial wage subsidy), plus shift differentials per hour as applicable.

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the General Manager and Operations Support Manager, the Multi-Service Worker (Non-certified) provides assistance to Berwick residents in a manner conducive to resident safety, comfort, and dignity, while maintaining choice, independence, and individuality.

The Multi-Service Worker (Non-certified) is aware of and conforms to Assisted Living Registrar requirements and applicable internal policies as it relates to Enhanced Living Services. The Multi-Service Worker (Non-certified) will be assigned in areas of administration and reception completing a variety of duties and tasks within the residence.

The Multi-Service Worker (Non-certified) will be a flexible individual who enjoys multitasking and displays high energy, with the ability to encourage a comfortable, home-like environment for residents, team members, families, and visitors. Encourages and adheres to a holistic philosophy of wellness, recognizing that each resident is capable of, to varying degrees; making decisions about his/her life and is a partner in the decision-making process.

This position requires the person to work independently and is also a designated emergency responder for resident and building emergencies. Provides security for the building after hours and conducts several security rounds of all common areas, staff areas and vacant suites.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experienced in working with seniors (preferred)
  • Experience in a related office and administrative field
  • Excellent word processing, database, and spreadsheet skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Programs including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Good observational and recording skills
  • WHMIS Certification
  • Valid Emergency First Aid, CPR, and AED training
  • Medication Administration Certificate Trained in handling emergency situations such as power outages, fire, earthquake, and medical emergencies
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work with staff, as a team is essential
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently, and understands verbal and written instructions
  • Polite, courteous, and must work well with seniors and the public
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy and patience when working with residents and staff

Emergency Response Duties:

Follows established policies and protocols to provide initial emergency response in the event of a power outage, earthquake, fire, silent fire drill or resident emergency. Assess situation, provides assistance where appropriate, and contacts medical personnel/911 when required.

Note: A criminal record check is required pursuant to the Criminal Records Review Act for working with vulnerable adults. Current TB test also required as well as proof of Covid-19 vaccination(s).
