Four Rivers Co-op is hiring a permanent full time OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY ADVISOR in Vanderhoof, BC.

What you’ll do:
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the organization and administration of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) program for Four Rivers Co-op and ensuring compliance with federal, provincial and local legislation and regulations and company policies. This includes integrating corporate and CRS Occupational Health and Safety initiatives, communicating and updating information on OHS, facilitating and/or resolving OHS issues, measuring and evaluating program performance and reporting results.
You will accomplish this by:
- Overseeing OHS risk management programs to eliminate or minimize actual and potential risk
- Developing and monitoring Occupational Health, Safety and Environment (OHSE) policy and procedure
- Conducting internal safety audits on personnel, equipment and to provide coaching and training
- Conducting analysis of accident / incident statistics, identifying trends and suggesting improvement plans
- Willingness to travel regularly within the Four Rivers Co-operative trading area
- Conducting in-house safety training
- Assisting in hazard assessment development and review, conducting inspections and investigations
- Determining internal and external OHSE training requirements Managing all WSBC Claims, working with internal and external stakeholders
What you bring:
- Possess a post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or related field (CRST or CRSP preferred)
- Two years’ experience working in the Occupational Health and Safety or related field, preferably in a retail environment
- Experience with COR (Certificate of Recognition) and Certified Internal Auditor preferred
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code
- Experience working with an Information Management System is considered an asset
- Ability to identify hazards, critique process and identify system needs
- Experience providing advice to senior executives
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite of products and ability to learn specialized software quickly
