Job Responsibilities
You will be based in Toronto and join a team of risk professionals from a diverse range of backgrounds and experience who collectively ensure that the Firm's Operational Risk Management Framework is implemented and functions effectively across the Bank.
Operational Risk Management provides independent oversight and maintains an effective control environment. You will be responsible for:
- Leveraging the CCOR Framework across all businesses (focused on Payments, Merchant Services and Legal Entity coverage)
- Identify: Reviewing the risks identified by the first line of defense and escalating any new or emerging risks or issues, including assessment of New Business Initiatives and Product/Process Change Management
- Measure: Independently assesses Operational Risks and control environments through quantitative and qualitative means.
- Monitor and Test: Independently monitor the risks and test the effectiveness of controls
- Manage: Identifying issues for the first line of defense to remediate through action plans and reviewing KRI and KPI thresholds, as required.
- Report: Reporting on results including changes in risk assessments and results of monitoring and testing.
- Liaising with key stakeholders including first, second and third line of defense.
- Driving the broader Operational Risk agenda through research, presentations, assessments, and reviews.
- Stay abreast of industry news and regulatory developments to facilitate proactive risk identification and mitigation.
- Legal Entity coverage/support, representing Operational Risk Management and liaising with the ORM Country Leads.
- End to end coverage, including Horizontal activities (Resiliency, TPO/Outsourcing, Data Management)
- Perform off-cycle reviews of areas of emerging risk or potential control gaps
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor degree in Finance or Business related subject.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present concise findings in a persuasive manner.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant industry/financial services experience required (ex. Operational Risk Management, Compliance, Audit, Finance, Control Management or Operations)
- Understanding of bank products and services and associated risks across Canada and Latin America (ex. Merchant Services, Payments, etc.)
- Knowledge of Operational Risk frameworks in a regulated environment (ex. FFIEC, OFSI)
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and project management skills with successful track record of completion.
- Strong influencing skills and ability to drive change and deliver results.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise sound judgment.
- Excellent project management experience with successful track record of completion.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- Ability to learn and understand internal systems (Alteryx a plus)

Operational Risk Management is part of Compliance, Conduct and Operational Risk (CCOR), within the Risk Management and Compliance organization. CCOR is responsible for the design and execution of the CCOR program, which consists of the second line of defense's responsibilities in the oversight of management of the firm's Compliance, Conduct, and Operational Risk.
