MANAGER - Job Description
The manager role is a hands-on position that requires a strong knowledge of transportation and the geographic area; the primary business is school busing. The Manager is required to oversee the operations, safety, training and maintenance of the operation.
Principal duties and responsibilities include:
- Provide leadership and direction to key departments: Operations, Safety, Training and Maintenance
- Maintain awareness of current industry trends and changes
- Assist in the development of operational budgets and forecasts
- Investigate and initiate change to improve operations systems and procedures
- Recruit, manage, supervise and direct personnel
- Supervise and delegate responsibilities of personnel, ensuring all routes are covered in the most equitable and efficient manner
- Assist with driver performance issues by supervising and supporting the training officer
- Work closely with the maintenance department to ensure adequate numbers and sizes of units are available to cover all routes
- Oversee fleet maintenance needs and initiate immediate repair
- Set-up and input data for driver payroll
- Prepare monthly billing
- Host safety meetings
- Meet monthly with Drivers’ Reps to discuss issues brought up by drivers
- Handle public and driver inquiries, hostile or complimentary, demonstrating empathy, and professionalism
- Represent the company at school board meetings, and with the media
- Establish and maintain relationships with current and future clients
- Network and volunteer in the community and industry to acquire business contacts and establish relationships

Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary education with emphasis on Management; or equivalent experience
- Exceptional organizational, analytic problem solving and diplomacy skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally while exhibiting confidentiality and diplomacy
- Knowledge of WCB and Occupational Health & Safety regulations
- Knowledge of budgeting and financial statements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Desired Qualifications
- 3+ years operations and management experience with strength in decision making
- Familiarity with transportation sector
- Expertise in organizational planning
- Knowledge of provincial and federal laws & regulations pertaining to industry requirements
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
