Your contribution!

Reporting to the Solar Energy supervisor, the operator is responsible for planning and carrying out repairs and maintenance on the solar facility, and is the point of contact for coordinating all site activities.

Your day-to-day!

  • Operate and maintain the facility as a service operator in accordance with contracts, maintenance plans and budgets;
  • Optimize the yield and production of the solar facility by carrying out all necessary actions;
  • Ensure that all site work complies with applicable safety, environmental and engineering policies and standards;
  • Use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to plan and record work performed;
  • Manage relations with subcontractors carrying out operations and maintenance work on the site;
  • Monitor the SCADA system to ensure that the solar facility is producing properly, so that any problems can be dealt with quickly;
  • Complete daily, weekly and monthly internal operations reports on time;
  • Carry out periodic health and safety inspections and remedy any shortcomings with subcontractors, as appropriate;
  • Represent the company, as required, with Hydro One or Sault Ste. Marie PUC and in relations with landowners and the community;
  • Take all necessary steps to investigate and resolve alarm triggers generated by the solar facility in order to minimize downtime (24-hour availability when in service);
  • Operate heavy equipment (snow removal, grass cutting, etc.);
  • Ensure that on-site teams are trained and equipped to perform their jobs safely and efficiently.

Your skills, our requirements!

  • Good knowledge of mobile vehicles (tractors, ATVs, etc.).
  • A valid Class G driver's license.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in electromechanical or electrical engineering will be considered and preferred.
  • Experience in renewable energy is an asset.
  • Experience with voltage converters is an asset.
  • Experience with SCADA systems and PLCs is an asset.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Electrical C Skill Card or Red Seal is an asset.
  • Training in electromechanics or electricity will be considered and preferred.

Additional considerations!

  • The position is based at the Sault Ste. Marie or Stardale (Ontario) site.
  • This position is an O3 level.
