Reporting to the Packaging Manager, the Packaging Supervisor will plan, oversee, and participate in all actions required to meet production schedule while assuring packaged product is of maximum quality. They will also lead staff to safely comply with guidelines and standard operating procedures while promoting a positive a work environment that allows the department to continue working towards progress and success by adhering to set objectives and goals.
Responsibilities
- Use leadership skills and effective communication to lead staff to achieve daily and weekly production requirements.
- Liaise with brewing supervisor and inventory & logistic management for any production schedule changes.
- Troubleshooting equipment breakdown and work closely with the maintenance department to fix issues while logging and analyzing all pertaining information.
- Maintain accurate written documentation of production and sanitation records including traceability; Analyze such data as part of KPI program optimization.
- Support upper management for process improvement project opportunities, implementation and follow through.
- Create reports and deliver presentations to staff and senior management outlining operational efficiency, quality control, and opportunities for improvement.
- Promote 5S strategies and good manufacturing practices to achieve operational excellence.
- Ensure food safety strategies and compliance are being followed by staff along critical control points.
- Be a health and safety champion. Record and lead investigation with respect to workplace accidents and near misses, and educate staff for best practices.
- Assist with staff performance reviews.
- Perform quality control and quality assurance testing on packaged product through routine specification checks.
Special requirements (personal skills/core values):
- Proven leadership experience to include; team building, coaching and motivation, change management, and process management.
- Very strong technical understanding of the brewing process and brewing quality control points.
- Excellent communication skills such as the ability to clearly articulate issues, opportunities and risk when making decisions.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Solid working knowledge of pneumatic systems, industrial electricity, mechanical power, steam generation and distribution, industrial refrigeration and sanitary process piping systems strongly preferred
- Exhibits the flexibility needed to respond to frequent changes in production requirements and/or systems and equipment failures.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
- Results driven focus.
Professional expertise/experience:
- Minimum 1 year experience supervising people
- 2 - 4 years of packaging/manufacturing operations experience preferred
