Packaging Supervisor

We are looking for a Packaging Supervisor (Afternoon Shift) to join our team at our manufacturing facility located in Brantford, Ontario.

THE OPPORTUNITY

• Provide leadership, direction, guidance, supervision, evaluation, and training of employees.
• Responsible for the overall effectiveness of the packaging operations during assigned shift.
• Ensure safe working conditions, take appropriate action to protect the health and safety of employees, and comply with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Plan the production schedule and materials required according to the manufacturing orders.
• Assist employees with troubleshooting equipment issues and liaise with the maintenance department to minimize downtime and ensure product safety and quality.
• Provide advice and guidance on SQF related matters that pertain to the Packaging Department and ensure compliance with the SQF code.
• Effectively use operational data daily to measure and communicate trends, reinforce positive results, and initiate corrective action as required.
• Responsible for personnel management including accident investigations, time and attendance, conflict resolution, and performance and disciplinary meetings.
• Ensure proper housekeeping and hygiene standards are maintained.
• Coordinate training and cross training of department employees as required.
• Recommend measures to improve safety, quality of product, production methods, and equipment performance.
• Build and maintain effective internal and external relationships and work closely with Production Planning, Finance, Maintenance, Human Resources, Quality, and Plant Management
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

THE REQUIREMENTS

• 3 years of supervisory experience in the manufacturing industry
• Proven leadership and coaching skills
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication (verbal and written)
• Able to multi-task and stay on top of competing priorities
• Computer proficiency with MS Office
• SQF Practitioner certification preferred but not required
