About us
Approximately 200 students attend Landmark Elementary School. The staff is comprised of full-time and part- time positions with a total of 25 members. The school was built in 1990-91. Landmark Elementary School is a K- 6 school and is part of the Hanover School Division. The school site consists of 10 classrooms, a music room, gym, resource area, learning commons, multipurpose room, and a computer lab.
The School Secretary reports directly to the School Principal who establishes
duties/responsibilities within the parameters of the job profile. This vital role will engage and
support students, staff, and families, follow the daily routines, meet deadlines and ensure the
office is functioning smoothly.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
▪ Assisting with student registration, timetable preparation and computer scheduling
▪ Assisting with school budget control and requisitioning
▪ Assisting with the school fund accounting
▪ Providing telephone, photocopying, fax, and mail services
▪ Assisting with compiling data and preparing reports
▪ Providing administrative help as required by the Head Secretary and/or School Admin
▪ Helps to care for sick/injured students and administers basic First Aid if required
▪ Support field trip planning and organization (permission slips, booking buses, etc.)
Qualifications:
▪ Experienced administrative/office professional
▪ Experience working with school age children in a formal setting is an asset
▪ Superior time management/strong organization skills and ability to prioritize
▪ Excellent computer skills in Word, Excel, and Google Docs
▪ Bookkeeping experience with attention to detail and accuracy
▪ Self-motivated and willingness to take initiative
▪ Excellent public relations and communication skills
▪ Ensures confidentiality of school documents, records, and verbal information
▪ Able to maintain professionalism in stressful situations
▪ Positive attitude in interactions with students/school admin/parents/public
▪ Ability to work as an effective team member and independently
▪ Knowledge of PowerSchool software is an asset
▪ Willingness to learn new programs
