Position Type: Part Time, Independent Contractor (Approximately 24 hours per month)

Overview
The Payroll and Benefit Contractor is responsible for providing administrative and technical support in such areas as Payroll, Benefits administration and Woker’s Compensation administration. The Payroll and Benefits Contractor will be responsible for the administration of the bi-weekly payroll, completion of the payroll year end process as well as monthly benefit and worker’s compensation administration and reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Payroll & Administration
- Administers and prepares payroll for processing on a bi-weekly basis ensuring all additions, changes and deletions are documented and recorded accurately (Group Health/RRSP/Commissions etc).
- Administers all related activity associated with the processing of payrolls (i.e. -- T4, Releve I slips and summaries for reporting to RCA, EHT Annual Reconciliation, Annual Commission reconciliation and preparation of T2200s, etc.)
- Completes and files WCB/WSIB monthly remittances and year-end reporting.
- Bi-weekly reporting of RRSP contribution amounts
Benefits Administration
- Reconciles benefit billings and ensures proper processing of payment through accounting.
- Processing group benefit plan enrolments for new hires in both the payroll system as well as the benefit provider administration portal
- Processing employee changes in both the payroll system as well as the benefit provider administration portal
Qualifications:
- University Degree or College Diploma
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in full cycle payroll
- Pursuing or has achieved Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) certification is an asset
- Working knowledge of ADP system, preferably WorkForceNow
- Complete knowledge and understanding of all laws and regulations surrounding Payroll.
- Must have high integrity and confidentiality
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation)
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Power-point (presentations), Outlook)
- A proven systematic and organized approach to multi-tasking
- Ability to work independently
- Shows ability to meet deadlines and prioritize work
- Able to recognize the position as one of highly trusted and confidential nature
- Professional, friendly, diplomatic with exceptional interpersonal skills
