To be successful as a Payroll & Benefits Support Specialist, you should be able to investigate and resolve payroll issues and ensure strict compliance with company and regulatory standards. An outstanding Payroll & Benefits Support Specialist should also have excellent people skills and a high numerical aptitude.
The key objectives of the role:
- To navigate the complexities of changing tax laws and other regulations and make necessary tax and financial filings needed to stay in compliance.
- The financial records that are prepared allow DAC to accurately track income, expenses, and other data. This will help to assess the financial health, create budgets, and make vital financial projections

- Associate's or bachelor's degree in business or accounting preferred
- Proven experience in a payroll position in a fast-paced environment required
- Strong knowledge of tax and wage laws
- Good understanding of the common fiscal procedures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications
- Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills
- Able to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Physically able to work seated in front of a computer for long hours at a time
- Canadian Payroll Association - Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP)
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years’ direct Canadian, US & Global Payroll
- Knowledge of UKG or Workday would be an asset.
- Strong sense of responsibility, and ability to meet regular deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Assembling reports of company earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability payments, and non-taxable wages
- Preparing year-end employee tax slips or forms, and submitting government filings to meet deadlines
- Maintaining confidential information by adhering to legal and ethical standards
- Working with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure benefits and payroll services are delivered
- Monitoring and analyzing expenses against the payroll budget to help prepare cost forecasts and budgets
- Ensuring databases are set up and reflect the current employee base, including salaries, hourly wages, benefits, and pension percentages
