McCain Foods (Canada) is currently seeking to fill the role of Payroll Specialist. Reporting directly to the Payroll Manager.

This position is responsible for processing bi-weekly payrolls for employees of McCain, this would include new hires, promotions, changes, terminations etc. They would also be responsible for processing ROEs, T4s, RL1s as well as train on other payrolls (hourly and salary) to provide occasional support and coverage as needed.

Key Objectives

• Work in compliance with government legislation and company policies
• Work closely with the payroll manager, payroll team and EEC (employment engagement center) team to document and streamline all payroll procedures
• Play a key role in the implementation of process improvements and efficiencies
• As a member of the payroll team, process accurate, timely payroll
• Manage the payroll paper/email flow to ensure appropriate controls and backup documentation exists
• Respond to customer inquiries in a timely, courteous manner
• Prepare timely reports for finance and month-end vendors
• Investigate and resolve payroll-related issues promptly
• Prepare and issue remittances and final paperwork for terminating employees
• Strony knowledge of year-end procedures
• Reconcile and issue T4/RL1 forms and summaries and other relevant documents and other projects and duties as may be assigned

Ideal Candidate

• Will have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Human Resources or an equivalent combination of education/experience
• 3-5 Years Minimally of hands-on payroll experience
• Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation as it relates to payroll
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively using time management and organizational skills
