Job description

The Post-Majority Support Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating post majority support services, programs and initiatives aimed at addressing social issues affecting young adults transitioning out of care into adulthood. This role involves developing, implementing, and evaluating wrap-around support strategies that meet the distinct needs of the young adults, and promoting and supporting holistic positive outcomes for them. This position aims to help prevent various challenges, including substance abuse, violence, mental health issues, and intergenerational trauma. The Post-Majority Support Manager will collaborate with Elders, nation members, and other professionals to create a safe and supportive environment that promotes the well-being and resilience of young adults aging out of care.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This is a full-time, permanent position with Piikani Child and Family Services. This position, which is expected to be based in our Calgary office, may work remotely, but travel is required regularly. Regular hours of work will be 8:00am-4:00pm Monday through Friday. The wage range for this position is $80,000-$110,000 depending on relevant education and experience levels. As this position requires considerable travels, the successful candidate would be provided with a company-owned motor vehicle.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop culturally-based safety, wellbeing and supportive programs geared towards helping young adults formerly in care.
  • Coordinate family reconnection of out of care young adults.
  • Develop support programs that would aid the out of care young adult to easily access culturally appropriate supports and services that meet their needs.
  • Implement the Blackfoot culture into programming.
  • Assist clients in goal setting based on individual needs assessments.
  • Identify steps to achieve client goals and monitor progress and assist in removing barriers to individual success.
  • Work with the young adults formerly in care to be connected and actively engaged in their community, language and culture.
  • Provide support to clients including advocacy, referral, transportation, and mentoring.
  • Collect and document data to track client successes.
  • Facilitate group presentations based on trends of clients needs.
  • Develop programs based on available funding to support stability and connections in the areas of housing, employment, education, mental health and wellbeing.
  • Conduct quality home visits.
  • Complete appropriate paperwork for program reporting and interoffice communication.
  • Coordinate, schedule and attend case conferences and appointments with community providers with whom the client is involved.
  • Maintain regular contact with the clients network of service providers.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings with the management team to evaluate clients and program progress.
  • Attend and participate in weekly individual supervision meetings with the Executive Director to discuss client needs, goals and challenges.
  • Adhere to all PCFS policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree in Social Work, Early Childhood Education or Human Services. Other related education will be considered.
  • At least two years experience in the human services field, or a related field.
  • In depth understanding of community resources in Piikani and surrounding areas.
  • Blackfoot language and culture knowledge is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and support a team.
  • Knowledge of resources in early childhood and parenting programs.
  • Clean Criminal, and Child Intervention Record Check.
  • Drivers license and reliable transportation. (Drivers abstract required)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends if required.
  • Experience dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Display kindness, empathy and compassion to families.
