Tuya Construction Ltd. is a civil construction company located in Chilliwack, BC.  who is currently looking for a Junior Pipe Layer to join our team.

Job description 

The following are some of, but not limited to, the job requirements, abilities and understandings:  

• A minimum 1 years’ experience as a civil pipelayer
• Experience in civil construction and have installed piping materials such as HDPE, ductile iron, PVC, CSP as well as stainless steel custom piping
• Understanding of soil conditions & safe work procedures.
• Understanding of grades, slopes and elevations and be able to transfer information from plans and survey layout to site.
• Knowledge of specifications and standard details for typical types of work. (Sewer, drain, water, hydro, telephone, electrical)
• Understanding of specific watermain, storm and sewer installation procedures as well as backfilling procedures.
• Experienced with: Live tie-ins, beveling pipe, working with mechanical joints, couplers and fittings, setting and raising CB's & MH's, benching MH's, drop MH's, setting headwalls, installing sanitary cleanouts & inspection chambers, Insert tees, fire hydrants, air valve assembly, and flush.
• Understanding of specific Hydro, Telephone, Shaw and Electrical installation and backfilling procedures, conduit installation, concrete duct bank encasements, JB's, vaults, MH's and work in shoring cages.
• Understand and perform tests for various types of pipe systems including pressure testing, air testing and man-drilling.
• Strong work ethic a requirement.

• Ability to follow instructions
• Provide labour support as needed

Physical Demands:

The physical demands for this job are as follows:

• Lift and carry materials up to 50lbs
• Stand or walk for long periods of time.
• Extensive shoveling and raking
• Bending and crouching for extended periods of time
• Climbing in and out of trenches
• Climbing on ladders
• Work in extreme temperatures

Work Environment:

The following work environment characteristics are representative of the environment the job holder will encounter

• Work outdoors in all season
• Work around heavy equipment
• Work near traffic
• Exposure to loud noises

Compensation & Benefits

• Wage will be based on knowledge, skill and experience
• Extended benefits after a 3 month period

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $26.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
