Teck is looking for an experienced Plant Technician, Roaster-Acid (Temporary 4 months) to join our team at our Trail Operations, one of the world's largest fully integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complexes.
Reporting to a Group Leader, Analytical Services, this Plant Technician, Roaster- Acid (temporary) is accountable for performing routine and non-routine testing and providing in-plant requirements to meet assurance requirements for the Roaster-Acid plants.
This role is based in the welcoming community of Trail, situated in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia. Here you will find outdoor adventure at your fingertips! Responsibilites:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Perform daily, routine plant sampling and testing of products and processes primarily for quality control and quality assurance
- Perform analysis on acid and liquid SO2 shipments and product stock tanks to ensure product meets customer specifications and ISO 9000 quality assurance requirements
- Participate in plant surveys, schedule tests with Plant Operators and carry out tests; take measurements, calculate, record and compare data; provide reports to Technical Support and operating personnel
Qualifications:
- Graduation from a technical institute in a relevant discipline or equivalent practical experience is required
- A good knowledge of the physical, chemical and metallurgical processes used in the Roaster-Acid Plants will be a definite asset
- Candidates must have the ability to operate a computer using various online and spreadsheet software
- Position requires good interpersonal and communications skills when dealing with customers
