Purpose:
The incumbent is responsible for contributing to the successful day-to-day operations of the ScotiaMcLeod Managed Programs - Summit, SIP by creating and producing reports that will assist in supervision and oversight. The incumbent will also be required to assist in delivering new efficiencies, processes, and ideas to support the development and growth of the programs.
Major Accountabilities:
1. Work closely with the Director, and Senior Manager Portfolio Management to ensure the effective operations of the investment programs offered at ScotiaMcLeod (Summit, SIP, Pinnacle):
- Program account approvals through Webpost
- Ensure the managed accounts are appropriate and suitable for the clients.
- Operationally ensure mandates are added or removed from the platform.
- Provide portfolio analytics and risk measurement of mandates.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly supervision reviews to ensure adherence of the account to mandate, identify issues, notifying the appropriate team for resolution.
- Act as a main point of contact for all administrative requests, general program information and rejected account information.
- Assist with investment queries coming from the investment advisors/relationship managers.
- Facilitate distribution of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly reports/data as required.
2. Manage the overall compliance and oversight of the programs which include:
- Daily New account Suitability reviews for SIP and SUMMIT
- Monthly Portfolio vs Model reviews
- Monthly SOP allocation reviews
- Monthly composite Rate of Return calculations and template distribution
- IPP review and annual manager IPP attestation.
- Quarterly Portfolio Risk reports
- Quarterly Suitability review
- Monthly Aggregate Report to managers
- Monthly AUM by IE Reports
- Monthly finalized AUM Reports, SIP and SUMMIT
- Updating Crystal reports as required
- Monthly Index returns reports for Portfolio Operations
3. Contribute to the larger Investment Solutions Group by:
- Providing support on key product and marketing projects as needed
- Building effective working relationships across the team and with various business lines
- Actively participating and contributing to touch bases and team meetings
- Encouraging the generation of new ideas and approaches
- Actively share knowledge and experience to enhance the development of all team members
- Other projects and requests as needed
4. Assist the Business Development and Communications teams with the sales and marketing of the Investment Programs by:
- Providing performance data, risk/return metrics, portfolio characteristics for investment mandate profile sheets/quarterly updates.
- Quarterly update of the SIP Statistics Tool
- Monthly update of the SIP Portfolio Construction Tool
Education/Work Experience/Designations
- Undergraduate degree in business, finance, economics or accounting is preferred.
- Enrolment in or completion of CFA program is desirable.
- Completion of CSC preferred.
- Experience working effectively with Advisors.
