Potato Farm Equipment Operator

CP farms ltd is a medium sized irrigated row crop farm in Barnwell and Vauxhall AB, the heart of the irrigated farming area of southern Alberta. We focus on the production and storage of high-quality potatoes for the French fry processing industry. We also grow sugarbeets, corn for grain, seed canola, wheat and barley. We run modern, well maintained equipment and trucks. As we are expanding our operations we currently have an opening for an enthusiastic full-time employee at our farm. The right candidate must possess the following:

-At least a high school diploma

-Be able to speak, read and write in English

-Reside in the Coaldale, Vauxhall, Barnwell or Taber area or be willing to relocate.

-Possess a valid class 5 license and a reliable vehicle to come to work

-Have farming experience, preferably in crop production

-Be able to work longer hours during planting and harvest

-Be physically fit and able to lift 25kg

-Ability to work in a team with members from different cultures and backgrounds

-Willingness to perform or assist with a shop based maintenance program and servicing of farm equipment and highway trucks and trailers.

-must be willing to work the occasional weekend, including Sundays

Preference would be given to candidates with:

-A valid class 1 license or a willingness to get one over the summer

-Several years of irrigated row crop farm experience including running and servicing pivots

-Experience with running high-end equipment such as sprayers or harvesters

Remuneration would be in line with the level of experience and education. A company vehicle or fuel allowance, a benefits package and a phone allowance could be available after a probation period. Housing is not available.

Salary: $24.00-$34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 70 per week
