Job description

The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Bureau Commander, Corporate Communications and Strategy Management Bureau (CCSMB) are seeking a qualified individual to join the Communications Support Unit. In this exciting, rewarding and challenging opportunity, you will coordinate various events, by providing expertise and group leadership in the development of priorities, establishing timelines and milestones, processes.

What can I expect to do in this role?

To coordinate various events, by providing expertise and group leadership in the development of priorities, establishing timelines and milestones, processes.
To plan and manage OPP events/ceremonies;
To prepare status reports, conduct evaluations and analysis;
To develop/present recommendations;
To ensures product quality and timely deliverables.

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• Ability to pass an OPP background/ security investigation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of project planning/management to plan, design, implement and undertake projects/events, contribute to the development of project work plans, provide status reports and presentations to Senior Command. Awareness and understanding of Respectful Workplace and the Accessibility Ontarians with Disabilities (AODA).
Knowledge of event planning and delivery to provide leadership, guidance, and counsel. Knowledge of protocol practices, decorum and order of precedence involving high profile public and private sector dignitaries to deliver events that represent the OPP in a respectful and positive manner.
Knowledge of computer software programs such as Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, etc., to compile information, determine eligibility and produce letters, memoranda, reports, charts, tables, graphics, spreadsheets, and presentation material.
Knowledge of procurement and budgeting practices to procure services and supplies from vendors.
Knowledge of research methods and techniques to prepare environmental scans and situational assessments.
Oral communication and presentation skills to present information and recommendations to managers; and to address groups at ceremonies, seminars, and others group sessions.
Written communication skills to prepare correspondence, reports, and business plans.
Networking, outreach, and relationship management skills to coordinate between multiple parties, resolve issues, act as event advocate to promote importance of and inspire confidence in programs, promote adherence and commitment to best practices and accountability requirements.
Problem solving skills to coordinate/prioritize workflow, provide advice, guidance, and recommendations to unit members on all program related matters.
