THE ROLE
STRIVE Recruitment has partnered with one of Vancouver's leading Real Estate developers as they look to hire a Project Accountant. The client has developed a diverse real estate portfolio and specializes in the development of commercial, residential, mixed-use and industrial buildings. The client has some very interesting development projects in the pipeline including several large-scale masterplan developments.
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Project Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate, complete, and timely project reporting and providing valuable collaborative support to operational groups (civil, construction, development, and marketing).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, manage, monitor, and continually improve the project proformas and financing budgets, ensuring balances and assumptions are well supported
- Prepare monthly cost reports and budget variance analysis, including proposed adjustments and reclassifications
- Prepare monthly construction draw packages and coordinate & respond to inquiries from the quantity surveyors, banks & lenders, and partners
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and cash forecasts to assist with treasury management
- Validate invoice project cost coding and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare monthly financial statements and working papers for project entities
- Experience and interest in continuous process improvement; including, standardizing, documenting, and improving purchasing, approval & contracting processes
- Assist in audit engagements
- Ad-hoc analysis and projects as required
Our client is looking for an experienced a PROJECT ACCOUNTANT who has ideally worked in the Construction/Real Estate development sector.
In addition, our client is looking for the following:
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in the Real Estate and/or Construction Industry
- Experience with complex budgets, forecasting, and internal transactions
- Superior attention to detail and organizational skills, a hands-on problem solver
- Thrives working in a busy, high-volume environment
- Ability to handle conflicting deadlines and prioritize to meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and people skills, able to lead presentations to a group
- Ability to work collaboratively, as part of a large team
