Properties Landscaper

Mill Ridge, a local golf course in Chester, NS is currently seeking a Properties Landscapers to assist in the landscape maintenance operations of the golf course for the 2024 season.

Job Summary:

The Properties Landscaper under the direction of the golf course superintendent or assistant superintendent is responsible for the daily activities involved with all golf course landscape maintenance. This position is best suited for an energetic individual that enjoys manual labour as well as working outdoors.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Moving materials (river rock, soils, mulches, sod etc..) manually as well as with wheelbarrows, carts
• Work with hand tools and basic light machinery such as plant vehicles, and small diggers
• Use of small landscape equipment ( utility vehicles, lawnmowers, line trimmers, backpack blowers)
• Opportunities to work on the golf course (mowing, raking bunkers, general labour)
• Maintain the property and equipment to ensure they are clean and safe
• Must be physically able to complete daily tasks
• Be aware of surroundings at all times
• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task
• Ensure safety of fellow employees
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:

• Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks requiring the use of independent judgment and action
• Basic knowledge of landscaping
• Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that projects are completed properly
• Must be a punctual and reliable team player, and able to work without supervision
• Must be willing and able to learn how to operate safely motorized tools, including side-by-sides
• Working safely is a condition of employment.

Working Conditions:

The Properties Landscaper role requires physical actives. There will be lifting, crouching, bending, and more to complete the job. The individual must be able to lift up to 50lbs and able to work outside in various weather conditions. The landscaper must have property clothing for outdoor labour work (heat, cold, and/or wet conditions). CSA approved footwear is mandatory.
