Job Description: Under the supervision of the Primary Health Care Manager and Senior Public Health Inspector participates in the promotion of environmental sanitation and the enforcement of provincial legislation. Carries out wide range of field inspection activities in rural and urban areas employing recognized techniques and methods. Required to exercise considerable independent judgment in the performance of daily activities, using provincial PUBLIC HEALTH regulations, standards, policies and guidelines. Responsible for maintaining good working relations with other Public Health Inspectors, as well as other internal and external partners.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Environmental Health
Certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada), CPHI
Valid Class 5 driver's license
Experience
Minimum 6-12 months experience as a Public Health Inspector preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to demonstrate initiative, independent judgment and organizational skills
Ability to interpret provincial legislation
Ability to organize and prioritize work on multiple projects with competing deadlines.
Ability to travel extensively within designated area
Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Computer skills including Microsoft Office word processing and spreadsheets, email and internet
Effective oral and written communication skills
Interpersonal skills
Public relations skills
