Job description

Canada Pump and Power is a rapidly growing industrial marine company providing supply, service, and rental solutions to an array of clients. We are building an experienced, high-caliber team dedicated to supplying innovative equipment, systems and manpower solutions to the oil and gas, pipeline, mining, and civil construction industries.

We are currently seeking an energetic, results driven Quality, Health, Safety Security, Environmental (QHSSE) & Compliance Manger who possesses a natural ability to lead a team and while fostering a positive safety culture from the field to the office. The ideal candidate will have a "Boots on the Ground" approach to Safety. They will identify, clarify, and continuously improve the way we do business so that Canada Pump and Power can grow while taking exceptional care of its employees and clients. They will come to Canada Pump and Power with 5+ years of experience in the oil, gas, pipeline and industrial construction sector with knowledge in pumps, pumping systems, and specialized marine equipment.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated and goal oriented, has excellent communication and interpersonal skills and is familiar with equipment and supplies utilized in construction throughout the various sectors. Proficiency in pumps, pumping systems and industrial marine solutions will prove to be advantageous.

The Quality, Health, Safety, Security, Environment (QHSSE) & Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring that Canada Pump and Power’s Safety and Quality programs are in compliance with third party organizations, are running smoothly and efficiently, while implementing a company culture focused on the safety of our employees. They ensure that the Safety and Quality programs are established, maintained, documented, and met by all divisions of the company. They verify that all employees understand and follow the HSSE Management System and that Quality standards are met by all divisions, taking necessary actions to rectify and solve discrepancies. They verify that all employees have the necessary skills, training, and proper equipment to perform their tasks safely and within the quality standards. They report on the performance of the quality system, ensure non-conformances and potential hazards are identified and rectified effectively. They oversee all operations and processes that relate to the health and safety of personnel, updating them as needed, improving the Quality system using feedback from Executives, Managers, and other personnel. They liaise with external parties on matters relating to quality systems.

Accountabilities

  • Verifies all Personnel follow company processes and company Safe Work Procedures and Practices
  • Verifies all Personnel work within Company, Customer, and other existing standards and regulations pertaining to their scope of work.
  • Reporting and rectifying of potential hazards, accidents, and near misses
  • Perform Field Level Risk Assessments
  • Provide a daily report summary of work activities performed, following the template provided.

HSSE Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly understand all services and products that are received and provided by Canada Pump and Power and their associated Processes, Procedures, and Practices
  • Prepare and coordinate all accident reports and Worker’s Compensation reports, handles follow up insurance and Worker’s Compensation Claims, administer a Modified Return to Work Program for all injured employees, and coordinate duties based on physical restrictions implemented by medical practitioners.
  • Establish, maintain, and amend company processes and company safe work procedures and practices.
  • Establish and implement safety programs such as the Drug and Alcohol Program, Loss and Safety Management Program, and Pumps courses.
  • Ensure departmental quality control is effectively implementing the HSSE System.
  • Ensure the Training Director and departmental trainers are effectively and thoroughly communicating established safe work procedures and practices.

Quality Responsibilities:

  • Establish quality standards by studying Company, Customer, and other standards pertaining to all services and products that are received and provided by Canada Pump and Power
  • Establish raw material standards by studying, manufacturing, and engineering requirements; confer and negotiating with suppliers; devising testing methods and Safe Work Procedures and Practices.
  • Establish mid-process product inspection standards by studying manufacturing methods, devise testing methods, and Safe Work Procedures.
  • Establish standards for determining the status of finished and reworked product, devise testing methods, and Safe Work Procedures.
  • Establish and maintain a product quality documentation system for Safe Work Procedures and Practices; ensure Operations and Production Personnel are working within the system; amend the system when the need for change arises.
  • Maintain product quality by enforcing quality assurance procedures and government requirements.
  • Prepare product and service quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Complete quality assurance requirements by scheduling and assigning Employees to perform and report on quality tests.
  • Maintain quality assurance team by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training qualified Employees.
  • Maintain quality assurance team job results by coaching and counseling Employees.
  • Maintain professional and technical expertise by staying up to date on changes in standards and regulations for related areas.
  • Achieve financial objectives by preparing the quality assurance budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Assist company in achieving financial goals by reducing wasted costs from non-conformances and incorrect handling, storage, and usage of product.
  • Schedule and conduct audits on internal processes and products used and produced by Canada Pump and Power (Safety Certificate of Compliance (COR) and internal and external ISO Quality Management System audits)
  • Maintaining audit sites, such as Canqual, PICS, ISNetworld, etc current and in compliance with customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with Training Director and divisional quality control to help develop new training methods.
  • Assess if Employees have the necessary workspace, equipment, knowledge, and training for optimum performance.

Requirements

  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, maintaining dignity and respect for all.

  • Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Completion of National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) program with minimum of 5 years experience
  • CRSP considered an asset
  • Experience in industrial marine industry considered a strong asset.
  • Experienced in providing incident investigation training and mentoring.
  • Background in and demonstrated expertise in Quality Assurance Management
  • ISO9001 and/or ISO45001 certified auditor
  • Demonstrated knowledge on existing quality standards and regulations.
  • Must participate and pass screening tests for drugs, alcohol, and other controlled substances.
  • Minimum High School Diploma
  • Class 5 drivers license, with 3 years of acceptable driving history
