Quality Engineering

About the Role

Audit compliance to product quality standards within assembly department as well as incoming and finished product.  Tier II Supplier development with a focus on prevention activities and quick issue resolution.  Support production department with investigations & actions related to product quality, and provide guidance regarding acceptance criteria.

Your Responsibilities

• Review quarantine area for material dispositioned as supplier responsibility and ensure DMNs are processed and supplier review of material is performed as required
• Notify supplier of concerns/rejects related to purchased components and initiate corrective actions - coordinate third party sorts as needed and review data related to sort results as well as third party compliance to certification labeling - communicate supplier clean points to Production, Mtls & Quality
• Timely assessment of SCAR’s received from supply base – follow-up and verify implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions and record all objective evidence to support closure (includes verification at supplier’s premises as needed) – maintain files with supporting documentation 
• Complete supplier PPAP's based on release of engineering changes - PCN/CN. Confirm completion of all documentation per PPAP AIAG Manual 4th Edition. Update PCN and NPPC database with implementation dates and supplier PPAP approvals. 
• Compile and distribute Supplier Monthly Overall Performance reports ensuring to input all infractions (corrective action response, third party sort, purges, etc.) - communicate assessment ranking changes to Magna - process supplier chargebacks (SCBs) as outlined on Magna's Chargeback Policy - 
• Conduct Supplier In-Process Evaluations and Partnership Review meetings with suppliers – assist supplier with development of improvement plans and monitor progress
• Disposition Supplier Annual Validations submissions by verifying compliance to dimensional, material and performance requirements, as well customer-specific requirements
• Work with Team Leaders & Supervisors to root cause concerns flagged by manufacturing and the customer, as well as assist with scrap reduction initiatives
• Issue and maintain Quality Alert Notices and update tracking log - includes reviewing for extension or removal - conduct audits to verify compliance  
• Conduct control plan compliance audits, as well as product audits to verify conformance to functional and appearance requirements as well as assess packaging and labeling - initiate corrective actions where needed
• Has authority to stop production and prevent further processing of defective product & immediately notifies appropriate personnel to initiate activities to ensure corrective actions are taken, including manufacturing sort and purge activities - has authority to release product back to production
• Achieve departmental/BOS KOI's/objectives as established by the Department Manager
• Conduct oneself in accordance with the Magna Charter, Magna Operating Principles and Corporate Ethics guidelines at all times
• Follow all guidelines in accordance with latest revision ISO-14001, ISO 9001 and IATF16949 requirements 
• Maintain good housekeeping practices at all times - 5S offices, hold/test areas, customer review areas
• Ensure that Health and Safety and Environmental standards are adhered to in accordance to the Magna Charter, Company Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act 
• Participate in plant safety, health and environmental programs as required
• Other duties as assigned

Who we are looking for

University degree/college diploma in related field or the successful completion of job related Quality courses.  Certified Quality Engineer would be given preference.  A minimum of five years in the quality field in a technical capacity (suitable individual should have gained knowledge in a cross-section of industrial processes).  Adept with problem solving methodologies. Good knowledge of all APQP phases and core skills including:  PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA and control plans. Knowledge of sewing processes, trim failure modes, trim standards (i.e. A-100, CTQ's), ability to root cause trim related issues and concerns identified by the customer and production is preferred. Computer literate with strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.  Successfully pass colour blindness testing demonstrating ability to disecern colours and shades.  Able to work overtime and travel with little notice.
