SalaryPosition Title:Dementia Support LTCA Recreation
Hours of Work: 12:00pm- 8:00pm or 4:00pm - 8:00pm
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will support residents with dementia during the sun-downing period. The Dementia Support staff member will help provide a home like atmosphere, create a calm and quiet environment, encourage residents with dementia to engage in simple activities with the goal of reducing responsive behaviors. Other duties include assisting with meals, recreation programs, outings, redirecting, 1:1 assignments, screening and monitoring visitors.
Job Knowledge: The successful candidate will have knowledge of Dementia and Responsive Behaviors and will be comfortable interacting with persons with dementia. A sincere interest in caring for and working with the elderly, as well as an understanding of the special needs of the aged residents and chronically ill. The person will have excellent problem solving skills as identified by the ability to observe, identify and respond appropriately to resident needs with creativity and resourcefulness. The person will have the skills to use technology such as TV cable boxes, DVD players, sound bars, Mp3 players, HDMI connections from computers to TV, Bluetooth technology, tablets and Apps.
Other Requirements: Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search and access to reliable transportation is necessary. Must maintain regular and consistent attendance. All employees must be covid-19 vaccinated.
