PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Regional Business Development Manager (RBDM) will manage the sales and business development activities for their branch to grow a substantial size sales territory. The RBDM will thrive in a values-based culture and leverage human capital by building, leading, and mentoring a high performing sales team and ensure continuous improvement amongst the members, these efforts will be realized through sales and profitability. The RBDM will ensure alignment of regional and individual goals with the company sales goals as set by Director of Sales. Communicating market conditions, identifying growth opportunities, and ensuring compliance of Formations information sharing systems will be pivotal for forecasting and developing the sales strategy, CRM, and market survey.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Fundamental job duties):

  • Accountable for increasing sales revenue growth and developing business development activities with influencers at all Formations accounts within their region and network with designers, architects, builders, contractors, dealers, etc.
  • Support all branch efforts to increase sales and foster all current and new accounts.
  • Maintain quality relationships by being a dependable business partner to our established and prospective customers.
  • Model and exemplify the use of our CRM to communicate market conditions and, ensure the Market Survey is accurate and relevant.
  • Provide information and insights on the products our customers purchase, the volume purchased and the companies they purchase from in region.
  • Maintaining and growing sales volume, product mix and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors.
  • Ensure new and existing sales opportunities for revenue growth are maximized and new leads and opportunities continue to fill the pipeline in several verticals.
  • Continue to build customer and supplier network.
  • Enhance brand equity and awareness of our panels, doors, and design products.
  • Communication of plans, programs, strategy, processes, and systems to branch sales team and be a source for coaching and mentoring.
  • Create buy in to the Sales Strategy with account managers and inside customer service representatives.
  • Determining budgets, revenue targets, forecasting, performance goals/metrics, and manage sales reporting and analytics for branch.
  • The provision of leadership to the sales team regarding industry activities, product, proposal writing negotiations as well as quote review.
  • Use sales automation and management of software platforms that advance team goals.
  • Contribute and provide feedback on training programs for the sales function.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director of Sales.

JOB EFFORT AND WORKING CONDITION: (Indicate the mental and physical requirements and conditions under which the job is performed.)

  • This role is located at the assigned region branch office.
  • The position requires frequent speaking, listening, and regulating of emotions when dealing with difficult customers.
  • Occasional travel to corporate offices in Edmonton, AB and external resources based on business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

  • 5 years of relevant experience in functional sales/strategy in a management capacity required.
  • 5 years Outside B2B Sales experience required.
  • Completion of degree in Business/Economics or post-secondary would be an asset.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to converse in the business domain in the building supplies industry.
  • Proven experience with sales pipeline management.
  • Knowledge of business intelligence, trend analysis and customer insights an asset.
  • Knowledge of Project Management principles and concepts are an asset.
  • Knowledge of financial and budgeting principles are an asset.
  • Ability to understand and help execute the companies’ goals and visions as it pertains to the sales function.
  • Effectively communicating with people from all levels in an organization on process design and improvement.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite systems.
  • Understand and exemplify Formations core values as well as holding others on the team accountable to do the same.
  • Ability and experience influencing and implementing change within the Sales team and the rest of the organization.
