We currently have a number of opportunities for Registered Practical Nurses (RPN) to join our Hemodialysis teams: IP Hemodialysis, Satellite Hemodialysis Units.
How Registered Practical Nurses (RPN) support our teams at Grand River Hospital
At Grand River Hospital, our Registered Practical Nurses (RPN) are key members of our interdisciplinary teams. Delivering exceptional care to our patients and ensuring a safe, supportive and welcoming environment, our RPNs also:
- Support and promote collaborative team practices
- Utilize evidence-based practices and analysis of outcomes to identify opportunities for improvement and promote professional accountability
- Consult with our multidiscipline teams to ensure our patients receive the highest level of care and support
At Grand River Hospital, our Hemodialysis Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs):
- Are currently registered (in good standing) with College of Nurses of Ontario
- Have 2 years (full time equivalent) experience in Medical Surgical nursing
- Are up to date with their Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Have prior hemodialysis experience or relevant experience
- Have completed health assessment course or have relevant experience
- Demonstrate assessment skills and the ability to function independently
- Demonstrate communication skills necessary to interact with interdisciplinary team, patients, significant others, and general public
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill in caring for chronic patients and families
- Are skilled in BG testing, 12 lead EKG’s, vital sign monitoring, IV therapy, aseptic technique and oxygen therapy.
- Are responsible, energetic individual with above average ability to prioritize and organize in a busy environment
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a collaborative care environment
- Demonstrate positive relationships with other health care professionals and able to contribute to development of an environment conducive to excellent patient care
- Are able to respond to emergency situations by rapidly identifying priorities and complex patient needs
- Demonstrate evidence of recent continuing education
- Have good attendance records
