Remote Technician - Fly In Fly Out - Diavik

Description

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician to join our team.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop

  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools

  • Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles

  • Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies

  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products

  • Maintain own tools

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

(Entry):

  • Primarily engaged in maintenance or basic repairs/diagnostics

  • Requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality

(Intermediate):

  • Completes complex internal engine repairs

  • Performs engine overhauls with limited direct supervision

(Advanced):

  • Ability to troubleshoot with limited/no support from diagnostic tools

  • Larger more complicated engine rebuilds

  • Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation

Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Technical Escalation - Obtains product technical issue information and utilizes available resources including data management tools; elevates issues to a higher level of expertise, balancing timeliness of customer response with investigation efforts; captures all troubleshooting steps in the appropriate database in order to ensure seamless transitions and accurate response to ticket resolution in a timely manner.

Diagnostics Application - Translates customer complaints to develop troubleshooting plan; troubleshoots issue following guided work flows, procedures, specialized equipment such as mechanical and electronic service tools, and diagnoses computer software to isolate failed components to enable a successful repair; validates repair by duplicating complaint to ensure it has been resolved; documents results of troubleshooting in business systems to communicate what has been done for payment and historical tracking.

Electronic Service Tool Application - Identifies the suite of available hardware and software tools required for a service event; utilizes the appropriate electronic tool set to maintain the product or diagnose and troubleshoot an issue; interprets electronic tool results or recommendations to determine next steps for service resolution.

Product Repair and Maintenance - Repairs and maintains mechanical/electrical products following guidelines, using required tools within standard repair time to ensure a quality repair; disassembles and assembles engines or power generators following guidelines, using required tools to ensure a clean and organized environment; inspects and replaces parts and components following re-use guidelines to minimize customers cost of ownership; performs progressive damage check following guidelines to restore to pre-failure condition.

Electrical Knowledge - Demonstrates knowledge of Cummins and industry standards on working with low and/or high voltage by complying with all safe work procedures including Personal Protective Equipment to create a safe work environment; applies basic electrical theories and electronics components knowledge using appropriate tools and procedures to diagnose and repair products safely and efficiently.

Mechanical Knowledge - Demonstrates knowledge of Cummins and industry standards by complying with all safe work procedures including Personal Protective Equipment to create a safe work environment; applies mechanical principles and theories using appropriate tools and procedures to diagnose and repair products safely and efficiently.

Health and Safety Fundamentals - Champions and models proactive health and safety behaviors by identifying, reporting and participating in actions to improve health and safety in order to build an interdependent culture and contribute to an injury-free workplace.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

Apprentice Trained Power Generation and/or Engine Technician (Preferred)

Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution

Current relevant electrical certification (optional)

Locally valid driving permit.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

Minimal level of workshop related experience required.

Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with Cummins products

High Voltage/ Low Voltage experience (optional)

This position is for approximately 18 months at Fly In Fly Out remote Northern Canada customer location - Diavik Diamond Mines. After the term ends, Cummins will work with technician for placement elsewhere.

Reports to Field Service Supervisor.

Shift Schedule - 14 days on 14 days off. Premiums apply.

Travel allowance 750.00 for each set. To cover employee costs to get to Customer Charter pick up point in Edmonton, Alberta.

High Horsepower, mining experience is required.

Cummins engine platform training and experience required.

Camp accommodations and meals provided at site.

Motor Vehicle History Report and Driver's Abstract Required.
