Areas of Responsibility:
- Provide a safe home environment and develop positive rapport with participants
- Administer medications and ensure accurate record-keeping
- Prepare and serve daily meals for people, oversee clean up, and maintain food handling practices
- Respond appropriately in times of crisis and manage emergencies as they arise
- Ensure cleanliness of the facility, including bedrooms and bathrooms
- Perform laundry service for participants
- Complete stocktaking and inventory control of all household products and groceries
- Provide personal care if/when needed
- Complete mandatory training and recertification's as required
- Ability to perform routine household tasks which include bending, lifting, standing for long periods, climbing stairs and winter maintenance such as shovelling and salting
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Work, volunteer, or lived experience in a care profession/support capacity OR Work experience with cooking, cleaning, laundry, food service industry, or personal care
- Desire to provide compassionate care to persons living with mental illness
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook email, online training)
- Reliable, flexible, and adaptable to change
- Effective communication, both verbal and written
- Works well independently and as a team member
- Able to create respectful dialogue with individuals who experience mental illness
- Demonstrates appropriate decision-making in response to participant needs and conflict
- Strong time management skills, with ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
- Standard First Aid/CPR certification (Level C)
- Food Handlers training
- Ability to complete core competency training and other training/recertifications during course of employment
- Licence/Certification:
- Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C) (preferred)
- Food Handler Certification (preferred)
