The Safety Advisor develops, administers, and
implements organization-wide occupational health
and safety (OHS) programs and works with
individual locations to address localized
requirements. The Safety Advisor plans, designs,
develops, implements, and monitors elements
within the RDCK Safety Management System
(SMS).

SAFETY ADVISOR

Full time 6 month term

The Regional District of Central Kootenay is
inviting applications for the position of
Safety Advisor for a 6 month term.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful completion of an undergraduate

degree in a related discipline
3-5 years experience directly related to

occupational health and safety.
An acceptable combination of education and

experience will be considered;
Certified Industrial Hygienist, or Registered

Occupational Hygienist, or Canadian Registered
Safety Professional designation would be an
asset;

Valid BC Drivers License and a satisfactory Drivers
Abstract;

Satisfactory Criminal Record;
Legally eligible to work in Canada; and
Experience working in a unionized environment

The Safety Advisor spends considerable time in the
field, supporting client groups around the Regional
District, and the incumbent must be prepared to
travel as needed. They are expected to work with a
high degree of independence and to be the health
and safety subject matter expert for the RDCK.

This is a full-time position of 35 hours per week for a
6 month term.

The normal starting hourly salary is $50.79/hour,
with a range from $48.58-$55.20/hour, depending
upon education and experience.
Interested candidates who do not fully meet the
education and experience requirements are
encouraged to apply. This position may be filled at a
coordinator/support level, with an hourly salary
range of $33.57-$36.49.hour.
