Your goal will be to market and sell events at the winery. As well as selling wine to local organizations and restaurants.
Our award-winning winery is unique and a one-of-a-kind winery in Ottawa. Working with a professional team at our sister winery, you will have the benefits of an onsite ownership group for support.
The Sales and Events Manager will drive sales, foster client relationships, and maximize revenue opportunities for our unique one-of-a-kind venue space. This individual will work with clients to understand their needs and provide customized solutions.
Reporting to an Owner you will utilize your passion, skills, and industry experience to book and increase business through the development of new opportunities.
Your hours weekly will be spent;
· 50% at home answering email leads, marketing, and selling
· 25% sales calls at the winery or offsite for wine and corporate guests
· 25% at events managing directly.
A base annual salary and expenses paid will be in place in addition to a commission bonus structure. This position is a one-year contract posting with the potential to be extended.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and execute events from start to finish, ensuring all details are handled smoothly
- Collaborate with clients to understand their event objectives and create customized event plans
- Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and contractors to secure necessary services and equipment
- Oversee event logistics, including venue selection, setup, and breakdown
- Coordinate event marketing and promotion activities to attract attendees
- Provide exceptional guest services throughout the booking process, and event, addressing any concerns or issues that arise
- Sell wine to local organizations & restaurants
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
- Upselling: Ability to identify opportunities to increase revenue through additional services or upgrades
- Time management: Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Market knowledge: Understanding of current trends and preferences in the event industry
- Organizational skills: Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Guest services: Dedication to providing excellent customer service and creating a positive experience for attendees
- Restaurant or hospitality experience: Familiarity with the unique demands of planning events in these industries
- Communication skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients, vendors, and team members
- Customer service: Commitment to exceeding customer expectations and resolving any issues that may arise during events
- Post-secondary (or college) diploma in marketing or event planning
-Two years of work experience in an event management role specifically for weddings and corporate
-Wine knowledge is an asset
-Experience and knowledge using computer systems and software such as word processing, databases, presentation software & spreadsheets
- Knowledge of online communications and integrated communications strategies
-Bilingualism is preferred (English and French), in oral and written work settings.
- Special events coordinator/manager certification is a bonus
- Certified special events professional is preferred (CSEP)
